There are two ways to get from Bingley to Leeds on the train.

1: The easy way - directly on a train to Leeds.

2: The hard way - catch a train to Bradford Forster Square. Then walk to Bradford Interchange. Then catch a train from Bradford Interchange to Leeds.

If I buy a Bingley to Leeds season ticket can I use it for both of the above options or only for the direct route?

Using Fare finder, both via and not via Bradford options cost the same. Also, the via Bradford route is within 3-mile detour tolerance.
It should be alright.

It's valid under the 3 mile rule, but also consider an MCard Zone 1-3 which is not much more, is valid by rail to many more destinations and includes county-wide bus travel.

Yeah, the only downside is that, Northern still refuses to payout delay repay for PTE tickets despite violating the NRCOT

Didn't know about that. That's really useful considering 1-3 would also get me to Micklefield where my best mate lives and Wakefield which is handy for the Hepworth Gallery where I often like to go.

Thinking about it, a "via Leeds" season ticket to Pontefract Stations would also let you go to Micklefield or Wakefield, at a price of £1.90 a month more than a Bingley-Leeds season. It's rail only, of course.
