Does anybody have any idea when this service is likely to start? December now looks unlikely. The new Bradford to Man Airport also looks to have been put on the back burner.

Correct. The view (rightly or wrongly!) is that both those services would cause major performance concerns, especially around Manchester. That being the case, there is no commencement date for either, as it is felt that they require infrastructure interventions (or other services taking out) to operate - and such infrastructure is not committed at present.

Of course whether NT would in fact have had enough rolling stock anyway is another question.......

The Return of the Pacers!

I'm hoping someone has the foresight to add a few stops between Manchester and Liverpool that lack fast services to Liverpool (e.g. Eccles, Earlestown & St Helens Junction). The latter two are in Merseyside but it's quicker to get to the middle of Manchester than Liverpool!

There was a fast service calling at St Helens Junction before the May 18 changes, that was Liverpool-Manchester Airport service which was diverted via Warrington, to make up for the Scarborough TPE being diverted via Chat Moss, Scarborough TPE calls at Lea Green instead of St Helens Junction.

Could they not run an hourly EMU along Newton-le-Willows instead of just doing it at peak? At least there will be an all stations service from MCV.
