Could they have got the none loco end to look almost the same as the class 68. Would have made sense.

The cab interiors are identical from what I understand although I have yet to see this for myself

Many, many moons ago I think it was stated that initially Mk5a would be top and tail, but I think that story was prior to the stock being built!

Was this before or after the 442s were mooted?

Oh, damn it! Someone had to mention the 442s!!! XD

Thanks for reminding me: the original plan was that the DTs would be delivered last, with T&T 68s prior to their arrival. A 2+4 formation would be grossly under capacity (or over-powered, or both) but would have given extra opportunity for driver training on the 68s. But then after the whole Pretendolino debacle it's no surprise.

There are slight differences.

For example on the 68 the windscreen blind is manual whereas on the DT it is operated by moving a toggle switch because you can’t reach it otherwise!

The DT cab is also larger.

TPE Class 68s look to be booked on light engine trips to Redcar Central next week. Presumably this is a combination of route learning and driver refresher trips.

0A90 07:19 Scarborough-Redcar Central (09:26)

0A91 Redcar Central-Middlesbrough (10:25)

0A92 Middlesbrough-Redcar Central (10:45)

0A94 11:08 Redcar Central-Middlesbrough Sidings (11:28)

0A94 13:15 Middlesbrough Sidings-Scarborough (15:04)

The current loco working off Scarborough is 68028.

Nice photo. It's great to see Transpennine operating "proper trains", particularly now that they're beginning to enter service to the passengers' benefit - I never thought I'd see the day when there'd be regular loco-hauled passenger workings on the North Transpennine route again!

Low on fuel so will be taken off at some point.

Surprised it's not being utilised on Saturday. That sees our most busiest trains. Last Bob up to the seaside and the penny pushers before kids are back at school...

Unless they are afraid of a race goer vomming on the new seats and carpet! Niiice! XD

Just looking at the front there, it looks like a Harting HMC connector on there.
*sighs* Wrong selection for an inter-car connection and that's gonna hurt soon. Should have been a Han HPR for this kind of installation, or something from LPA.

Does this come in English (for us non-techie guys)?

I think Nym is trying to say the socket on the front looks very vulnerable to damage and orange LPA equipment would be more robust like what is fitted to most other T&RS.

I've had both 68026 and 027 in the past two days and was mightily impressed by them acceleration was like being on a emu
