Ed Balls and Chuka Umunna in 2nd class (!) on a GNER/EC/VTEC London to Leeds service a few years ago. They appeared to like my "slumming it lads?" comment.

Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle in Emmerdale) on a mid-morning York-Harrogate service a few years ago.

Also from Emmerdale where he portrays Eric Pollard, I sold Eric Chittell an Advance ticket to Glasgow probably the same year, although I didn't actually see him on the day he travelled.

I sat opposite Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall about a year or so ago one morning on a GWR HST in 1st class. He has a funny habit of fairly brazenly picking his nose and then eating whatever he’s removed... probably all organic.

Jimmy Bullard got off at Prestatyn the other day. Former average footballer with a man bun.

A few years back, I was going from London to Manchester and Tom Hardy was across the aisle. I'd say either 2013 or 2014. Hoodie and a cap over his eyes, kept himself to himself but was polite when it came to giving people autographs. Sounded very hoarse.

I was on the Harrogate portion of the Yorkshire Pullman as it pulled into Leeds in 1969 and who should be waiting on the platform to board but Harold McMillan and helpers.
Shared a Mark 1 second class compartment with Denis Healey one night from Leeds in the late 1970s. I expected him to be travelling first class but he said he always travelled second class on the sleeper when he could. Very nice gentleman to talk to even though a large age gap. He had the lower bunk.

I saw Ed Milliband in the pub on Platform 3 at Doncaster the Friday after the 2017 elections, had a brief chat about the election result (he's my MP), thought afterwards that I might've overdone how well Labour did this time to the person who didn't do that well the previous time! Him and his assistant's got the London train, incidentally he was getting them a round in when I arrived.

For any avid watcher of the Apprentice Liz Locke of I think the 2010 series (IIRC she was in the last five) got the stopper from Lichfield Trent Valley towards Sutton after getting off the Euston-Crewe service.

One of those occasions when you glance across the platform at other waiting and think you've seen them somewhere before. Perhaps not if you don't get a reality TV fix.

Am guessing in his West Brom days. Actually saw Gareth Barry get on at that very station ( S&D) a few weeks back so guessing it's a commute for those who are based in Cheshire and play for a Midlands team. Only takes an hour after all.

Matthew Kelly in VTWC FC, kitchen coach, MAN-EUS, very rude.
Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen, FTPE FC, MAN-BPN non-plussed.
Matthew Horne, FTPE FC, MAN-BPN, polite and quiet.
Professor Green, platform 14, MAN, totally top bloke, absolute star.
Gordon Brown, platforms 4/5, MAN, booed him and he scowled at me.
Nick Hewer, MKC concourse, trying to blag himself into FC on STD ticket, cheeky and snotty.
Rio Ferdinando, MKC concourse, just himself.
Louise Redknapp, refusing to move out of a reserved disabled space in Standard on an VTWC EUS-MAN at MKC, delaying the service, she was a right snotty c*w.
Samantha Cameron, VTWC FC, MKC-BHM, quite pleasant.
David Cameron, MKC concourse, typical Tory.
Sarah Beeny on FHT, HUL-KGX
Never seem to see anyone on the GatEx, strangely enough!

If you're going to boo Gordon Brown, you can't really expect him to react as someone you didn't boo !

Saw Nigel Farage on a train from Charing Cross out to Grove Park and points S.E. that he probably thinks should still be in Kent. At least, I think it was him but as I don't speak his language.....
