11292 has now made its way by road from Doncaster to Booths too.
Living in the North West of England I was initially bemused to learn that our "posher than Waitrose" chain of supermarkets was buying up obsolete electric locomotives, until I discovered that Booths was also a scrapyard in Rotherham!

Given that component recovery is taking place is this to keep the LNER fleet running or to use when conversions start for other operators - or both?
Have any conversions actually started?

Anyone know what was wrong with the coaches that resulted in scrapping?

Was sat in King's Cross this afternoon - possibly on the 1630 or 1633 departure.

Could *swear* I saw it....maybe it was 104 I saw...
106 was the 16:30 from Kings Cross, 113 was the 16:33 from Kings Cross. Might have been one of those you saw?

I was on 1Y44 from Newcastle to Darlington and can confirm it is 91103

Given the discussion on the SWR Class 442 thread about gauge clearance issues, where even though the units operated on the South Western for nearly twenty years they are being treated as new units, the same will appply if Mk 4 stock is used anywhere other than the WCML. Now TfW and Arriva are happy to get the necessary work done with Network Rail for their Welsh and WCML services. But realistically is anyone else going to be interested in taking on Mk 4 stock? The only potential operator would be Chiltern to replace their Mk 3 stock, but I could only see them doing that if someone else wanted a small fleet of plug door fitted Mk3 LHCS.

The 442s have had suspension modifications during their service with GTR which has resulted in a different ride height. This is why they are being treated as new units for gauging purposes.

Some stored mk4s have been reinstated recently, so possibly some reformations to rakes to come to keep better condition and lower mileage coaches in traffic...

According to a post on here a few pages back, bits from 108 will go to 116. A post elsewhere showed bits have already disappeared from 108, so hopefully shouldn’t be too long until 116 re-appears....I still need it too :D

91 108 was outside Wabtec Doncaster today if anybody still needs to get it. I don't know whether it's still there now, or how long it is to stay outside in view for

The following Mk4s have now been moved from Doncaster to Eastleigh (!): 82226/11323/10325/12454/12225; all ex-BN23. My guess is that they'll receive a light refresh, de-vinyling and repaint into TfW colours there.

Thanks for the update.

I'm surprised that there's a First Open included in that rake. I appreciate that the mark 4 catering vehicles are standard class, but that's a decrease in standard class seating overall compared to the current mark 3 set. I'd assumed that 12318 would be making the trip rather than 11323.

Aren't the Mk4s like Mk3s? The seating can be altered very easily so a Pullman Open could readily be changed to a Tourist Open.

TfW earlier in the year said the sets would only have 19 First Class seats.

That sounds more akin to what I've read previously. I wonder what the intention is then? Reseat the catering vehicle with first class seats recovered from 11323, or convert 11323 to a half first/half standard composite vehicle?

I'd assume the former, and while it is easy to alter the seats in a mark 4 I don't see why 11323 should then be converted to a Tourist Open when there is already a disabled compliant standard class vehicle (12318) available in the first place. Unless 11323 is being moved purely to surrender seats to the catering vehicles - One Pullman Open has sufficient seats to furnish two catering vehicles - and 12318 is being moved on a separate date, but I assume that if it was involved then they would have all been moved together.
