There apologising beforehand to passengers not liking the window alignment. :D
After all it is a nice scenic run across the Pennines.

Anyone know the plan for this coming week with regards to 68/Mk5A’s?

Info from on the ground suggests a set should be out Monday, Tuesday, Friday and next weekend, Nothing mentioned for Wednesday or Thursday.
Confirmation would be appreciated as usual.

Thanks

It wouldn't be hard to fix that with a couple of judiciously placed airline rows. The issue seems similar to the original Mk3 layout - (nearly) all bays, Standard seat spacing, First Class window spacing.

I just hope that TPE do take note of passenger dislikes and decide to do a seating change and do away with some of the table bays, far too many as plenty have said, and put in more airline seating facing both directions and align better with the windows. Can't see them doing so though.:(

Or possibly those expecting ride quality to be that of a magic carpet;)

Your never going to please everybody with ride comfort, which will bed down with time, but never going to be as good as a Class 390 Pendolino with tilt, in my opinion!8-)

How easy is it to have a little move around of seats on these trains...is it relatively easy or a pain and damaging to the finishes etc?

I say this sitting one row infront of my booked seat on a cross-country HST as I prefered a window with the lovely West Country to a piece of plastic.

Trouble is everyone that wants an airline seat, there’s another who wants a bay of 4, and on services to the coastC at weekends and during the summer they’re likely to be in the majority. There’s plenty of airline seats in the DT for those who prefer them.

I know this is more locos than stock, but are TPE planning to have thunderbird 68s? Presumably moving to a mixed fleet makes rescuing failed trains more difficult than with 185s where the following unit can often assist.

Do I remember seeing a few pages back that a second set is entering traffic later this month- or will it be October or later?

If it’s any help in catching whoever graffitied the loco, both sides were clean on Saturday, and the platform side was clean as of 17:30 Sunday. The sticker looks similar to one that’s on the side of a Chiltern 68. I hope it peels off easily...

Seriously unimpressed with this. Put simply - it is vandalism. Anybody who is caught modifying any part of any train will be at the mercy of BTP.

If people genuinely have an interest in trains and rolling stock they’ll know that it’s not funny. Instead of spending time maintaining the train, somebody now has to waste their efforts removing a stupid sticker which may or may not come off easily.

You wouldn’t want someone to put a bumper sticker on your brand new Jag, so why vandalise a new train?

I'd not even realised it was graffiti! Figured it was an "official unofficial" addition by a crew member or depot staff, if you get my drift.
