This is true, I just got a return Liverpool Lime St to Blackpool North, so my dad can join me on a day out.

Cheers for the tip. I'd love a trip to Blackpool but there's no option from Preston. I wonder if I booked a ticket from Liverpool it would be valid?

Staff at Blackpool could legitimately refuse you access to the platforms if you did that, as Advance tickets don't allow starting or finishing short.

If you are going from Preston to Blackpool the walk up fare is quite reasonable.

I guess there is nothing to stop you trying on the basis that if they say no, it's only 20p wasted.

You could have a look for tickets for e.g., Preston to Wigan and Wigan to Blackpool.

Yes good point; you could book a combination of tickets to travel from Preston to somewhere and then from there to Blackpool.

If you can find a location with 10p fares to both Preston and Liverpool, you're in business. I had a quick look and found these available to/from Wigan.

On the return if you show Blackpool to Wigan + Wigan to Preston tickets, you could ask the Guard if you have permission to avoid the double back ;)

So the total price will be 40p.

I didn't ask if Northern are still saying they have all sold out. Rather, I am asking if anyone is still finding any of these 10p fares online?

No, sadly not.
I did get tickets on Sunday for Lime St to Blackpool North and back, but when I looked on Monday for Southport to Manchester (which where still available on Sunday) they where all back to normal price.

Oh dear, my 10p advance York to Preston is stopping short at Leeds, meaning I'll miss my First Class connection south.

Claiming my £18.50 is going to prove "interesting!"

(And that's assuming Virgin let me on the next train anyway!)

Northern could say grass is green, the sky is blue and today ends in the letter Y and I still wouldn't believe them
Well normally I don't believe them but they always stoop to a new low - why would they make something like that up?

I certainly won't trust anything they say in the future. They've excelled themselves.

If you have allowed the minimum connection time at each interchange and you at the station (ready to travel) then you are obliged to be carried to your destination, even on more than one ticket.

A few years ago Chiltern did a sale with London - Birmingham tickets at 50p.

They also did 25p Advances in 2012

Journey: 1 London Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street @ £1.00
PROMO ADVANCE £0.50 (2 @ £0.25)
PROMO ADVANCE £0.50 (2 @ £0.25)

Technically it's Delay Repay from the TOC who caused the delay e.g. Northern, rather than a refund from the retailer(s).

The amount paid does not in any way affect the validity of any claim; paying a cheaper fare than normal simply means your claim is for a lower amount than normal. It's still a valid claim and tickets remain valid for the journey as with any other valid ticket.

Those were the ones I got - I think they only sold them as a return at 50p.
I got two, with one from London an hour after I was thinking of travelling in case I was late with returns just after lunch and about 4 hours later in case it was a nice day. I got a Plusbus and visited one of my favourite curry houses.

Have to laugh. They don't even think I'm due the full 10 pence!

"Please accept my apologies for the delay you experienced; I have authorised
for £0.05 to be refunded back to the account which you have provided details
for. To note, this can take between 5-7 working days to process from the
moment of authorisation; I hope that this will be accepted with our
apologies."

I'm having a 20p return from Reddish South to Sheffield later today. Not a bad price for a ride across the Hope valley and a bit of tram haulage thrown in.
