The stations look appalling with the blue bands as they are stick ons and peeling off
Iam surprised they are doing anything to the stations since the dark blue colour scheme goes well with the brand (except the orange of course)

As a complete aside 'Mrs. me' actually expressed an opinion on the refurbished stock last week - it was 'better' and 'more comfortable'. A rare event - I have previously attempted to get her view on assorted rolling stock over the years, home and abroad, to little or no effect. This was a totally unsolicited breakthrough! I am not supposing that the same may happen again, but who knows? She still considers railways an odd hobby but, after 30+ years, accepts that it exists!

What’s awful is they’re not even the same seats! I’ve sampled the part refurbished first class a fair few times and the fully refurbished numerous times, and you can tell they’re not the same seats by the headrest. The part refurbished ones have a deep dent in the head part, the refurbished ones do not.

It seems to me SWR have largely wasted time refurbishing the first class seats for the part refurbished units if they’re not going to be used when the full refurbishment starts!
I'm pretty sure they're the same cushions. If not then it's only the small headrest cushion that's been changed.

The fully refurbished 450 1st Class seats have antimacassars (the bits of leather saying 'SWR') on the headrests , which is why they feel firmer than the part refurbished 450 1st Class. I also find the part refurbished leather seats softer than the full refurbed ones.

That's probably because they've had longer to soften.

Yeah I know, but it seems a bit silly doing partially refreshed ones because removing the Gard's office must be quite a messy job. And it involves a patch of new carpet which would cost them more money and they don't need all those leather seats that they reupholstered for first!
The first class seat covers/cushions can be re-used when the last full refurbs go in, which look to be the 450/5s. So not wasted.

But that’s just it, the part refurb and full refurb have different first class seats, or at least DEFINITELY different headrests, if you take the cover off the full refurb seat you got a 100% flat smooth surface, on the part refurb - a huge dent.

Also the Part-refurbed seats are more of a gray colour whereas the fully done ones have a more dark blue colour. Correct me if I'm wrong. At least the first class is 'fresh out the factory'.

I don't see much colour difference between the 2 refurbished 450 versions personally. But I haven't been on a partially refurbished 450 for months though as they're so rare now.

Yeah I wasn't 100% sure I had this vague picture in my mind.

I'm pretty sure the seat frames are the same (Compin seats), you probably think it's 100% smooth because of the headrest covers. From pictures I've taken of the full refurbed 450 1st Class, it looks like they have dents in the headrests.

Or it could also because they haven't had much time to soften yet, therefore they're quite firm.

I travel in 450 First class every day after college & even when I’m not at college as it’s my local train and I use it regularly. The top part of the final refurbishment seat is different. 100% different. Sometimes I’ve even sat in there when gangs have removed the covers and it’s even more obvious then - the new headrests are FLAT.

Oh ok, you're probably right then because I don't travel on 450s daily.

Regarding the saga of the 1st Class headrests, I've been on two fully refurbished units today. One had indents in the headrests and the other one didn't. Perhaps it's the case that the part refurbs, which had dents, retained these upon conversion to full refurbs, whereas straight refurbs have the different style. The difference is barely noticeable anyway.
