Though probably let down to a certain extent by the M42
Not really. I know several people in the Redditch / Bromsgrove / Droitwich / Worcester arc who will drive to International for Euston departures 0700 / 0720 / 0741. Even for the latter, the traffic isn’t that bad except for the last stretch.

Fair enough. You obviously know the M42 much better than I do.

I know Sinfin North was located in the middle of an industrial area south of Derby & had no public access.
Interestingly, Sinfin North was (is?) used as a fudge for CIS systems to display Charter trains properly.
One of the only abandoned stations they kept in the system as far as I know.

On current numbers yes but I think Teeside did have busier times in the past.

Cruachan has always been quiet (but very useful for the few who do use it). I’ve been both to visit the power station and to climb the Cruachan Horseshoe.
I'm not sure about Teesside Airport's past, sorry.

I did the Cruachan horseshoe from the station last Saturday. One of the more difficult walks I've done, but seriously worth it.

The other visit was just for the blog.

OT (sorry mods!).. but just the two or all four? Doing the latter in a day between first and last trains to the south is a fair old challenge! You had sensational weather for it though...

Usage has increased considerably over the last few years, according to the Wikipedia article. From my own observations, this is mainly Derby commuter traffic.

It's up 65% in four years since 2013-14. Looks good?

Trouble is, that's from a small base of 21340. Mind you, the 35,146 for 2017-18 is pretty good, considering the pretty limited service. Perhaps it should get more? Sundays too?

Three in the end. I had a base in Taynuilt for the Friday night, so I had the extra 90 minutes (09:28 to 18:42 with ~1 hour to spare). Cracking weather and I got some good pictures.

I did the full horseshoe including six of the seven tops (didn’t make Sron an Isean) as a day trip by train from Edinburgh in July 2001. To make the last train I had to run the last two miles downhill somewhat dangerously.

These days I think I’d struggle to do more than an up and down of Ben Cruachan in the time available.
