Just found on Realtime trains a service from Cross Country which years back you'd never have thought you'd hear the names of the stations called at. More in a moment. I have often listened to announcements of services to some stations on a journey calling at stations I'd never passed by and had wished I could. One announcement I'd love to hear is the Routing from Aberdeen to Penzance, in a Scottish accent.
I just discovered via RTT the 06:13 1L98 from Bristol Temple Meads to Stansted Airport. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that over the years stations such as Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Stamford, March , Ely, Cambridge, Audley End etc, have never been called at Bristol.

I was wondering if there were other rare announcements made at some stations. Not one-off journeys but the occasional planned daily or weekly services.

Once a day (I think) Crewe has to announce a train calling at all the stations on the Heart of Wales Line, with all those Ll's.

There are two, one of which continues beyond Swansea to Cardiff Cen and includes several Swanline stations.

About once a week at Hebden Bridge there’s a Northern service that’s announced as being on time

During occasional planned CrossCountry diversions, Swindon gets trains announced to Edinburgh (and, if I recall correctly, beyond). Given that usually the furthest north announced is usually Cheltenham Spa, it just sounds wrong to carry on through Birmingham, Derby, etc.

Come to Glasgow Central and Edinburgh , you will hear the Penzance service announcments . Last year when they were going to Southampton or Reading i never heard them announce them , i wonder if there not programmed in. Liverpool Lime St is at EDinburgh .

I have not yet heard the announcement at Manchester Piccadilly for the weekend direct service to Pembroke Dock which never used to be a service until recently as far as I know. Given the lack of 175’s it would not surprise me if a 150 has done the whole journey!

Noticed at Manchester Victoria and Blackpool North , the lady announcer has changed to what seems the old BR one .

Given that there are daily services to Reading it is definitely programmed in. But that's not how it works.

Indeed, ATOS Anne is being replaced by Celia Drummond across the Northern network, which is a most desirable scenario with the number of TOCs using Anne right now.

I remember being at Leeds when a charter train for Grosmont and Whitby was in the PIS. It was announced as the "service to ... calling at ... and ...".

The Ellesmere Port service isn't announced at Leeds, however one day last week the service was running late. An announcement was made apologising for this, only it was announced as the service to …. via Halifax.

I don't particularly understand this announcement. We're there supposed to be Eurostar services to these places? Why are the announcements at Littlehampton?

I believe the train is a Southern EMU farewell charter tour, so presumably the rather silly set of destinations and TOCs were put in the PIS for a laugh.
