On 755418 this morning and guard is doing the door opening and closing. Looks like the camera problems continue on this unit, but at least common sense prevails and it's resulted in cancellation of the service.

They will only be closing, our keys do not allow opening and the panels have no open buttons.

Due to some issues with the camera system it has been isolated on all units so that Stadler can look into it, therefore all door closing will be done by the conductors for the foreseeable.

That system has always made the most sense to me. Always feels odd when you pull in to a station and nothing happens because the Conductor is mid transaction. (Not a criticism in any way) The Conductor has a much better view for closing doors.

Ah, that explains why I heard him asking the platform attendant at Ely if they'd been told "we're doing the doors on all these".
Long may it continue.
Why do you say that? Seems to cause an additional 15 to 30 second dwell at every stop (as effectively the door closing and step retraction process has to happen twice). And the guard can't see the platform length once the local door starts to shut, so seems less effective from a safety pov too.

As a driver I prefer the guard closing the doors. He/she is aware of any disabled persons needing to alight too. I'm happy to open them but that's all.

Yes that makes a lot of sense actually, I hadn't considered that the guard is going to be more aware of what's going on INSIDE the train.

Does anyone know which diagrams are planned as 755s now? And when are the next units expected to enter traffic?
On a 156 on the way home from Ely. What a comedown (although not as horrific as the 153s between Peterborough and Sleaford).

334, 335 and 336 is this morning’s delivery.
So with those three delivered I make it the following are outstanding for delivery:
755325/327/337/338
755401-403/411/412/421

I may have missed the odd delivery, however...

755402, 411, 412. Were delivered to Norwich on 22 August.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times already, but does anyone know what diagram/times the 755 trains are going to be working on NRW-CBG on Saturday? Pretty unacceptable that I haven't found the time to actually try this new train yet :(

Permission to operate in electric mode with passengers was granted between Liverpool St & Norwich from Monday. This is still the only route they can.

Great news, thank you as always.
Ni90 diagram perhaps with 2x4 car? No need for a depot visit for a half time drink and only Ipswich to think about for doors at an intermediate stop.
Apart from that surely the rural routes are those in most pressing need of units right now?
Cheers :cake::cake:

It means permission has been granted, not necessarily that it will happen immediately! Maybe it will though, not sure.

You are most welcome. Sounds perfect diagramming for them but as you say the local fleet is very pressed right now and lots of bad press from the media too.

Surely won't be that long before a 745 or two enter service for the NiN? Although I guess the first will provide the opportunity to split up one of the Mk3 rakes to eliminate all of the short forms.

Are the 3 car 755s any closer? What's preventing their acceptance into traffic?

I think it was October/November the first 745 was due wasn't it?

With two units already gone to Wales and the short set due to end next week they will certainly be required on the rural lines. Although with the 14:40 to Great Yarmouth and return missing out Brundall Gardens this afternoon (can only have been due to a 755) it is a pity that there are still limitations to their use.

Will have been a 755 diagram but maybe not necessarily a 755 on the day. I spotted a notice at Ely stating 2 specific trains per day temporarily not calling at Spooner Row. They fitted with the return workings of Norwich to Cambridge that are usually a 755.
I guess once the software fix for the SDO is applied they will start to call at these stations.
If a 755 gets subbed last minute with something else it would benefit very few people and cause confusion if they started serving stations where they've already communicated trains won't be stopping.

Think they'll want 1 set in on NI90 ASAP considering the diagram with 1030 ex-NRW round to 1750 ex-LST is more often than not class 321 operated (as well as Ipswich crewed diagram) The hauled sets in general are a bit of a mess with 1st class coaches slotted in random places, several with no buffet.

How many 755s have been out each day this week and on what services?

There are 5 diagrams that can be a 755 each day, normally its seems to be 3 units a day at the moment.

I've had the classroom part of my training this week on these machines and I'll be honest, I'm excited to hopefully get out and drive one for real. And looking forward to have a traction card with 08s and 755s on it!

Pretty sure someone earlier said it's only Norwich crews being trained to begin with. So that diagram will likely stay as 321. If it's the train that forms the early morning Ipswich to Norwich and late night Norwich to Ipswich I can't see that being a FLIRT anytime soon. And isn't it diagrammed like that in order to rotate 321s to Crown Point for exams?
