Looking at doing some of the branches within the travelcard area in the South of London. Anyone done this before and effective way of doing it ?
For starters, Epsom Downs and Tattenham Corner can be combined by walking from one to the other.

Caterham can be visited, then travel back to Whyteleafe, walk to Upper Warlingham, and board a train for different scenery on the way back to East Croydon.
If you don’t know the area I suggest arrive at Epsom Downs and walk to Tattenham Corner. I did it the other way around and it took me ages to find Epsom Downs. It’s really hidden away through a fairly upmarket housing development. Very pleasant area around the race course for walking.
Bromley North is an easy walk down the high street to Bromley South (10-15 mins) or you can hop on a 119 bus to Hayes and cover that line too.
The 353 from Hayes to Orpington could also be useful to you.
Might be a shout doing the tram . Only down Wimbledon to Croydon . How long did the walk take ?Personally did the 314 bus from Hayes to New Addington instead, to clear the Hayes NR branch and the New Addington Tram branch instead
Walked from Tattenham Corner to Epsom Downs cuz I just picked whichever train came first - it's not too bad if you use Google Maps in my opinion! Walked down Old London Road, Fir Tree Road, Ruden Way, and then down a small alley (marked on Google Maps, but don't recall any obvious signs when I was there!) and Bunbury Way - crossing the roads were the most intimidating part I think!
Took the 71 bus from Chessington South to Surbiton for the train to Hampton Court to knock both branches out in one day, you could probably further chain that up to Hampton via the 111/216
With a standard zones 1-6 Travelcard, you can only go as far north as Hatch End. Watford is in zone 9 and the Abbey Line is totally outside the tfl zones.Wont have a car , other branches i will look at will be the hampton court and other SW branches and Hayes . The Southeastern network looks a little confusing , will need to figure that out .
Staying near wembley , will do the Watford Overground and may as well do the St albans abbey branch.

In that case the 314+tram suggestion above will take you from Hayes to East Croydon (for Cat/Tat).Hayes , Chessington South , Hampton Court , Epsom Downs , Caterham , Tattenham or on the hit list .

You can be one of the few who do! : )Yes im aware , happy to buy a ticket for the abbey line.
Every 12-15 minutes during the day IIRC.Indeed. Will look into how frequent that bus is.
Alternatively, back to Elmers End and tram from there - quicker, but less tram (and less interesting tram route IMO).In that case the 314+tram suggestion above will take you from Hayes to East Croydon (for Cat/Tat).

If you go to Tattenham Corner, be sure to turn left as you come out of the station, a walk across a field of 50 yards, and then you have one of the greatest views in Britain, a hill overlooking the racecourse, with views beyond across the downs
Nope.Is it DOO?
I've always done TAT to EPD; its downhill! If you don’t know the area I suggest arrive at Epsom Downs and walk to Tattenham Corner. Touched out at Corner at 1801 and touched in at Downs at 1826, so 25 minutes!Might be a shout doing the tram . Only down Wimbledon to Croydon . How long did the walk take ?

One thing about some of the roads in that area , there was no pavements.Yepi did , there was a town in the distance with office towers , cant quite work it out . Woking or Dorking.
