I believe standardising the pay structures & shift length between single and double drivers was part of the agreed Unite deal

Yes now you mention it i recall it was too. Although it should've been done years ago. As i say drivers at the same company, same depot on the same sort of work shouldn't be getting paid different based on vehicle type (or for any reason at all), arguably the logic of deckers being harder to drive is flawed given that typically a single decker is longer and thus less manoeuvrable.

I recall reading somewhere that an additional test had to be sat before a driver was allowed to drive deckers. Is this still the case?

Indeed. I assume it was thought of as a sort of career progression concept (e.g. start off on singles and get 'promoted' to doubles with the associated pay increase)

I don't think even Lothian know what their plan is at the minute.

Well with the 43 now based at Deans and officially integrated with the West Lothian LCB services now, I think it’s safe to say that there must be some training going on with that route, unless they are bringing over extra drivers from Central to Livingston to cover that particular service!

I think the upgraded fleet would look lovely on the 43, especially along the Queensferry corridor, though maybe we’ll get to see the 1000’s or 500’s on this service now too

doubt the B5s will get a shot as they’re allocated to the X18

Until the next phase of "contactless" is introduced, 928-936 will likely be the only buses used on the X/43 as they have Tap Tap Cap whilst the rest of LCB has the retail version of contactless

Definitely. Would have kept First and discussing their Livingston operation in the Midland Bluebird thread considering that was started with a discussion regarding east Lothian

I disagree, this thread has always been used to discuss the "bus war" in West Lothian, so the name change makes sense - albeit a tad long.

YouTube video? What an insult i’d say a cinematic masterpiece

Sorry i forgot this is Lothian not Stagecoach. Such a highly regarded company (in the eyes of certain unnamed Flickr user) would never aspire to use a website with such low standards as "YouTube". Even a cinema is too lower class, a picture house or theatre would be far more suitable.

I fear i may have sarcastically went off topic...

So with the name change is this thread now open to all West Lothian debate as opposed to mainly LCB >?

due to lack of drivers in other locations?

That’s not what I meant I was curious if the LCB drivers were already trained on the route before it transferred over, I assume that’s a yes
Not the one who ended up at Shandwick place the other day ,I assume .
On a more serious note ,the shuttle issue to and from Scotstoun will always be a major issue on both costs and time. Maybe they will just instruct drivers to use their own vehicles if it becomes cost prohibitive.

Unless you have business insurance you can’t use your own vehicle and most people wouldn’t do it anyway

The drivers would really need to use each other's cars as shuttles because there is no parking available at the 43's Scotstoun terminus. Perhaps they could make changeovers where drivers can park their own cars and welfare facilities are available, like one of the supermarkets on the route. But that seems rather unlikely too.
Apart from the colour of buses I don't really see what was wrong with Central, especially if wages and conditions are being harmonised.
