Despite the fact that I may seem old-fashioned at the age of 74, I still believe in the use of a big centre-forward with good ball skills and Manchester United, having lost the services of Lukaku, would really have benefitted from another season with Zlatan Imbrahimovic leading their line, even at the age of 38.

Gateshead 3 Boston 0 on Saturday. 8 mad minutes cost us, despite the result looking like a more solid this team this year.

The Billericay circus continues. Another manager leaves, this time allegedly because he wouldn't play the chairman's son

Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool.

A game of two halves from Liverpool today (good in the first and poor in the second), but we managed to get the win to maintain our 100% record.

Our goals today were from Trent Alexander-Arnold, via a superb free kick, and Roberto Firmino.

Good result perhaps undeserved depending on how you view things. Second half increased my blood pressure. Ha ha.

I can see Frank Lampard doing quite well with that team if he’s given some time.

Disgraceful scenes at Hartlepooh United over the weekend:
  • Racial abuse directed to Dover players,
  • Hartlepool players offering to fight fans,
  • Hartlepool fans racially abusing their own players
  • threats of players walking from the pitch with the Dover manager wanting to do so
  • Fan ran on the pitch to attack referee
  • 2 home players and manager sent off.
they should have the book thrown at them.

Spuds beaten on penalties by the powerhouse of Colchester in the league cup

At least they can focus on the league...
Ouch.
No other surprises tonight (I had a feeling that Portsmouth would do Southampton), but that’s an embarrassing evening for Spurs.

Congratulations to Rochdale. That was emotional listening to your performance on the wireless tonight. Proper football experience.

Your wish for a Highland League win actually came true last night.....:p

Fort William 1 ... Clachnacuddin 0

First Highland League win for 74 matches and covering a time period of 882 days since their last league win on 12th April 2017. The player who scored was one of the young players on loan from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

After their subsequent 5-0 victory in the Scottish Cup, Fort William have now won more games this season than Bradford. Humiliated 4-2 by Morpeth in the FA Cup, there is no sign of our misery ending.

Yes, I also love football. How can you not love football?
Exactly. What I don’t like is all the shenanigans that comes with the game.
Watching 90 minutes of football is great fun though - my Saturday afternoon seems lost if I’ve not watched a game of some sort.

BetVictor Northern Premier League

Hyde United 3 ... Ashton United 3

Ashton came into this local derby match with a good attacking intent, as recently displayed in their two recent F A Cup qualifying wins and both sides scored twice in the first 25 minutes. Hyde then took a 3-2 lead ten minutes after half-time, but Ashton equalised with twenty minutes to go. A draw was a fair result and as expected, the attendance at Ewen Fields was a couple of hundred more than usual, it being a local derby.

This result sees Hyde now fifth in the league.
