Hello all,

Sorry if this is the wrong thread, please move if needed, but I need some help as having only done the Scot Rail region a handful of times, my knowledge is hopeless!

I'm wishing to know about the 2012 period, what stock would have ran on what over the lowlands routes? I'm fairly confident in assuming the 170's were on Glasgow - Edinburgh's, 156's off Queen Street working the West Highland Line, and 170's/158's on the Glasgow/Edinburgh - Dundee etc, I hope I have that bit right, but I'm not so clued up on the Glasgow Electrics.

I'm sure there is a long list for this, and I apologize for needing a list, but apart from the 322's, I have no idea what the 314/318/320/322/380's would have worked in this period?

The 156's would have done the diesel branches, but were these EMU's also paired, ran alone, or a mixture? I'm used to seeing electrics down south being paired for most of the time on weekdays, with little in the way of single set unit's running around.

Also any route (end - end) descriptions would be highly appreciated, as apart from Cathcart Circle, I wouldn't know what the 'xxx' line means. (I've heard of the North Clyde line, not sure what it is or covers though).

Any help would be most appreciated!

James.

380s started to be introduced during late 2010 and, together with the opening of Airdrie to Bathgate, resulted in a significant cascade of stock around the Glasgow system.

Therefore, by 2012, when all the 380s were in service.

314s worked Cathcart Circle - eg Glasgow to Cathcart / Newton / Neilston, Inverclyde - eg Glasgow to Gourock / Wemyss Bay and Glasgow to Paisley Canal (which was electrified during 2012)
318s and 320s worked routes via Glasgow Central Low Level - eg Lanark / Motherwell / Larkhall to Partick / Dalmuir / Milngavie and shorter services on the North Clyde lines eg Balloch to Airdrie / Dalmuir to Springburn
334s worked Edinburgh to Milngavie / Helensburgh Central along with, as they do now, certain services over the routes covered by 318s and 320s to maintain traction knowledge
380s worked Inverclyde and Ayrshire routes - eg Glasgow Central to Ayr / Ardrossan / Largs / Wemyss Bay / Gourock.

Paired up units less than now with 12 additional 320s now in service but now unknown. Their sphere of operation increased with the later electrification (after 2012) of the lines from Coatbridge to Cumbernauld and Rutherglen to Whifflet. Both of these routes saw 158s instead of or alongside 156s.

380s were paired on Ayrshire routes from introduction in both 6 and 7 car formations.

322s had moved to West Yorkshire during 2012 so the Edinburgh to North Berwick route was operated by 380s.

Thank you very much for your help! Was unaware the 322s had gone by then, and for some odd reason I assumed the 380s didn't come in to service until after 2012, one of those things where you think they are newer than what they actually are.

Thank you once again your help is most useful and appreciated :)

Added to this, does anyone know which services the HST's run between Aberdeen-Inverness during the week?

EDIT: Also, are there luggage lockers at Inverness station?

From a posting on Facebook today, the relevant booked HST services at the current time are:

a 1B14 0453 Inverness to Edinburgh (via Aberdeen)
b 1A44 0600 Inverness to Aberdeen
c 1A50 1102 Inverness to Aberdeen
d 1H33 1338 Aberdeen to Inverness
e 1A58 1713 Inverness to Aberdeen
f 1H43 2200 Aberdeen to Inverness

a and f are part of the same diagram
(Inverness start, Inverness finish)
c, d and e are part of the same diagram
(Glasgow start, Aberdeen finish)
b is part of another diagram
(Inverness start, Edinburgh finish)

However, a, b and f are being worked by a 170 today.
