Locomotives With Tool Boxes

Hi everyone,

Were the 57xx Pannier tank locomotives the only ones in the UK to have a tool box fitted? I'm also curious to know why the GWR felt the need to equip the 57xx class with a full set of tools.

What do you mean by a 'tool box' exactly?

Most steam engines carry some tools somewhere, it's just the nature of the beast.
Look at a picture of a 57xx Pannier tank and you will see that it has a tool box on the running plate complete with lid. That's the kind of thing that I have in mind.
