Aye and none of that is TPEs fault!!

Let's see what happens this afternoon as should be on it myself if running.
Maybe they lost the phone number for York Station Taxis;)

On a more positive note:
68027 on the diagram starting with 1E23 05:56 Liverpool LS-Scarborough. Locomotive on the ‘Liverpool’ end (first class at the rear on 1E23).

Good evening people!

I help run at Facebook page called 'Railway Graphics' (https://www.facebook.com/train.graphics) and we're planning to make a hard enamel pin badge of the MK5 DT! They’d be priced approximately £7 (exc pp) which is a bargain if you ask me! Attached is the proposed design for the badge. Can we have some feedback and if you would be interested in buying one (maybe 2)

Thanks

8/09: Nova 3 Update 0900

Please note the 1F60 is the 0941 from SCA-LIV, not 0841. Everything else below is still the same.
Also for info, the 68 is leading out of SCA, and trailing out of LIV.

Having finally travelled on one of these for the first time today I now understand why there is so much chatter about how much noise they make. There is precious little else to get excited about.

I think I'll stick to watching them in the future and avoid travelling on them unless it's unavoidable. The 195s are superior in every way except for the bizarre noise the aircon makes.

The extra two carriages will be a great boon to the many passengers such as I who have little practical choice but to travel on the North Transpennine route.

Plus, I'm personally very much in favour of the "beefy" traction and reintroduction of "proper trains" to select North Transpennine services. :D

A passengers view....
The Class 68 is the best part of these trains for sure, and you hardly notice them from inside.
Had my longest trip with friends yesterday behind 68027 on 1644 from Scarborough to Manchester Victoria and we were all glad to get off because of num-bum, them firm seats again and table leg on a 4 bay in the way for the person sitting the isle side. I think there is only 1 bay of 4 per side that align to windows, which is.where we sat.
Train very busy York to Leeds and packed to Huddersfield, plenty standing.
These will be great trains for commuters with the added capacity but the comfort is not there for longer travellers. They rock and roll a fair bit and bang through junctions.

Have these Mk5a coaches got air suspension? They don't feel like it, so quite fatiguing.

Oh dear :(

Perhaps they could retrofit some droplights?

Well would have been a good idea so when that air-con does fail there was a backup for air and the enthusiast in me could also enjoy the THRASH! 8-):lol::lol:

68025 ‘Superb’ with TP04 at York. Great to have three sets now in service, must be looking good for a second diagram to start:) The train was just 2 minutes late at York, a good performance given how busy the train can be. Loco on the Scarborough end, first class at the front on 1E23.

Other than when engineering works affect services both the usual diagrams are WTT workings off Longsight from Monday 23rd and info from the crews say there will be 2 sets out from next week so it won’t come as a surprise if that does happen, the only possible reason for a no show would be not enough crew available to work both sets, that is a possibility given that they were unable to crew the one set last Saturday evening and again on Monday evening just gone.

Yesterday's 1E37 ex Liverpool about to pass Slaithwaite with loco at rear. No sense of speed either at the time or in my picture as, of course, it was coasting down the valley so I'll need to revisit for a return working when the light is right.

More broadly on the training front- does anybody have any information for how it's progressing more generally? Obviously fantastic news that a second set is coming imminently!

Is it still a realistic prospect to see four sets in October, or has that plan now been shelved?

Sunny morning, new set and loco out, I’m not going to be missing that, even if it did make me late;)
Knew that you would photograph it!

Thanks for that, great news about the second set. It seems to be guards they are short of at the moment.

Took my first trip on one yesterday on 1E37 from Man Victoria to York to visit the York Beer Festival. Sat in the driving trailer in an airline seat. Noticed another enthusiast here with a stopwatch making copious notes

Hardish seats and some windows with restricted views - but we knew that anyway. Wifi still not working and time still an hour ahead. PA announcements cutting out before completing the message - "This is the service to (silence)". Train progress indicator not updating all the time.

I found the ride quite harsh compared with the 185 I returned on - you feel every set of points and there's a lot of rattling - but then there are no motors underfloor to mask the noise. The service was reasonably busy and a large number of people got on at both Leeds and York.

There were some non-operational TPE staff on board and one of the jobs seemed to be checking the accuracy of the reservations on the screens against their listings.

I was amazed at the noise level in York station when the Cat blasted off to Scarborough - much louder than anything else by a country mile. Excellent.

Cheers

Announcements/time/progress/reservations all working correctly on TP11 when I traveled last Sunday, assume same updates will be installed on TP09 in due course.

Regarding the T1 coach next to the loco...

The idea was that the guard would be situated next to the loco, followed by a galley and then 1st class.

Having one staff only door makes sense - the trolleys can be loaded through it, as well as staff changing over (guards mainly) without hindrance from passengers.... Overall a magnificent improvement for the crew and passengers compared to a 185.

Possibly, but what I have seen is the trolley unloading on a ramp through the (only) passenger door, not the staff door. It seems unlikely that plans ever anticipated use of separate ramps at separate doors for both wheelchairs and the trolley, so with the other door used only by the guard, the disabled toilet end of the first class coach will suffer congestion.
