Advance ticket northbound from London King's Cross for 28th October.
Grand Central give me a good price but LNER can't offer me anything.
QUOTE Your travel date isn't available for sale just yet. UNQUOTE.
Can Grand Central be relied upon to fulfill the contract?

If I was to hazard a guess it is engineering work. This could be on part of the route you are not needing. But LNER release everything at once. If they haven’t got the timetable confirmed between Newcastle and Edinburgh for example they wont release anything further south. Grand central may know they have no works already.

Network Rail responded to a tweet I sent them
QUOTE Hi Tom, our engineering timetables have already been released so you can book tickets up to 12 weeks in advanced. Our planning team have also confirmed that we have already released and published the timetables for October to LNER. UNQUOTE
Forwarded it to LNER and this was their response.
QUOTE We are still awaiting the timetables to be confirmed Tom, my apologies for the delay. UNQUOTE

LNER weekday AP tickets have been lagging behind for a while now. Normally engineering works don't affect the ECML during the week.

I think it hasn't been released because of as yet unknown impacts on services from the weekend of 26th/27th, so @Failed Unit is essentially right in that Grand Central are unlikely to have such concerns.

Hello,

Any update as to why Advance tickets on LNER are not available for Friday 25th October and Monday 28th October?

I know weekend engineering workings often delay advance tickets for weekends, but these are two working days.

My journey is York to London (and return). Grand Central are selling tickets but I have an LNER e-voucher thingy to use which is valid for purchase of tickets on LNER trains only.

Anyone got a clue when LNER might release the Advance tickets for these dates?

Many thanks

It is a little irritating to receive a promotional email from LNER titled
a new season. A new adventure. Fares from £29.00

only to find out that Advance tickets still aren't available for the weekend of the 1st to 4th November.

Hull Trains have been showing tickets on their services for weeks, so what are LNER playing at?

As previously explained, LNER are waiting on information from Network Rail regarding engineering works. These are likely to be further north than the area served by either Hull Trains or Grand Central therefore the impact on LNER services is likely to be greater. This will impact on positioning of trains either side of the weekends which is why the Fridays and Mondays are not yet open. Be assured that this is frustrating for LNER as well as customers and the dates will be opened as soon as confirmed train times can be provided.

Frustrating indeed seeing as 28/10 is now less than six weeks away.

A further annoyance with LNER is that their website will tell you that "Your travel date isn't available for sale just yet" based on the status of LNER ticket availability and not let you proceed further, even if your planned journey doesn't use LNER trains.

I was searching for Hull, the more generic National Rail enquiries site shows all the trains, but only the Hull Trains services with Advances.

Yes, but NRE doesn't take any account of any timetable changes at that stage or provide information about formation of trains which is an additional complication for LNER during the transition to Azuma operation.

I have just spent a good half hour getting through to LNER. When eventually I reached a human, I explained that I was wanting to travel from Newark to London and back on 23rd November but understood there were engineering works on the line. There will be no trains beyond Grantham from Kings Cross after 12.00 noon on 23rd November until after 12 noon on 24th November. So there will be nothing going south either. I wanted to know what alternative travel arrangements LNER had made so that people can make a journey beyond Grantham. I want to book theatre tickets but there is no point if I can't even arrive at my destination or know when I will get home. Short answer is "they don't know". There are engineering works but it is all in the hands of Network Rail who haven't yet confirmed the timetables, so LNER can't say what, if any, alternative arrangements will be made and/or what the timetable will look like. The same applies for 25th and 26th October, which dates I am also trying to book and have been for weeks now. The person I spoke to acknowledged it is all a bit of a mess. Honestly, LNER makes me fizz with all their rabbiting on about the great new Azuma trains and providing more trains and more journeys. The Azuma trains are no improvement in any respect to the previous trains - same old rotten service. I just wish LNER would organise themselves and provide a basic reliable service. I have no choice about which company I use and if I had any choice, LNER would be the last one. So, no progress on being able to book weekend journeys from now until the end of December. LNER don't know when the dates will be released and they don't know what alternative replacement travel arrangements will be in place, nor do they know what the timetable will be or indeed, if there will be any trains at all on those dates. And I thought all I had to worry about was the punctuality of the trains!! I certainly didn't anticipate having to throw good and expensive theatre tickets in the trash due to not being able to travel. A general rule of thumb from now on for me is that I am going to avoid travelling on a weekend.

You do have options, Newark Castle to Nottingham then Nottingham to St Pancras and reverse of that to return. Can be done for £22 on the Saturday and £34.50 to return on the Sunday.

Granted, it takes longer and involves a change but no theatre tickets wasted.

LNER bookings are now open for all weekdays to 13th December. Unfortunately there has been no change to the weekends.

Could you consider National Express coach? It's slower than the train, but if the times work for you, you could book it today and end the stress that LNER is causing you about this journey. National Express journey time from Newark-on-Trent is circa 5h to London Victoria Coach Station or circa 4h to London Golders Green.

Excellent. Now to decide whether I use the LNER Monday service from Hull and know where I will sit or stick with Hull Trains. They are allocating random seats from 28/10 due to the rolling stock change.

Edit: But then I remember as per the other thread that the Print at Home option is down.

Well they have released some advance tickets for the 25th, but next to none at the lower price points.
Taking King's Cross to Newcastle, most of the day is £70 single.

When are advances for weekend of 7/8 Dec likely to open? It’s crazy if they are only opening these up 4-5 weeks in advance
