Then there is the Paisley & Barrhead District Railway.

Never actually completed, as to have laid in the final Junctions and few hundred yards of track would have made the Caledonian liable to run a passeneger service. The stations were complete, with signage, but never opened.

The line continued in use for freight, with the final stub closing in about 1981, nearly ninety years after it was constructed.

Then you have something slightly different - Leith Central, closed to passengers on 07/04/1952 but retained as a Diesel Depot until 01/05/1972.

how about the original Poole station, latterly Hamworthy Goods, the other side of the quay to the town of Poole.
