I have bookings on a particular train from Brussels to Cologne through DB Bahn. When I booked because I choose tickets that meant I could only travel on that particular train it meant I had a seat reservation.
This is not true and it appears the train is very popular how to I add a reservation as I can’t see how to do it on the website

Go to reiseauskunft.bahn.de, and scroll down. At the bottom of the planner is a link "Nur Sitzplatz" which will allow you just to do a reservation. Should be there on the English version too.

If your journey is within a month, the site should give some indication of likely loadings (even before you get to the seat selector bit). But you may have discovered that already, now I re-read your post. Sorry.

bahn.de “seat reservation only (no ticket)” is very handy right up until departure. Last month we were travelling through Germany on Interrail tickets, and it was possible to use the app to quickly book new seat reservations on a ICE train that had not yet departed its originating station. The seats were reserved and indicated on the little LCD screen.

(by the way, the B in DB stands for Bahn so "DB Bahn" is an example of RAS Syndrome)
