Hi all, I've seen similar threads on this topic but if anyone has specific information for Scotrail I'd appreciate it.

The outward leg of my (off peak return) ticket was delayed by just over two hours so I claimed Delay Repay and received this. The return leg of my journey, a day later, was delayed by 75 minutes.

I was going to claim again under Delay Repay for this, as it is essentially compensation rather than a refund, but unsure if this is acceptable. The only Scotrail terms and conditions specifically about Delay Repay that I can see on their website state:

'Are there any conditions?
There are a couple.

  • We don't normally accept a claim if you were told about the delay before you bought your ticket
  • If we've introduced a temporary timetable, our Delay Repay guarantee will be based on that temporary timetable

What percentage of the ticket cost did you receive for the outbound portion?

100% for the outward portion. However, if the scheme is indeed compensation rather than a refund, then if I cannot claim again for the return leg then there is no compensation for the 75 minute delay on this. Appreciate it is (thankfully) rare that both outward and return journeys are so delayed.

You can claim again - I agree it is misleading with it being a proportion of your ticket, and you have already claimed the full cost of the ticket back.

I agree that you should be able to claim again, but I know that some TOCs take issue with paying out more that the total ticket cost.

There is nothing "wrong" with you claiming again. You are presenting Scotrail with the required information and it is then up to them to make a decision. If I were you, given I had encountered an additional delay on the return journey, I would submit the claim and see what they come back with.

The way it is written down I would take the view that you're entitled to claim again. If you were unlucky enough to experience a delay of 2 hours on your outbound and returning journeys then the scheme provides for 100% of your ticket back in two separate claims against the same ticket.

Train companies might take a different view.

Thanks all - thankfully the delay on the return leg was 'only' about 75 minutes. I'll put in a separate claim for that and let you know what Scotrail says.

Just in case anyone else sees this thread who had the same misfortune, Scotrail did pay compensation for both the outward journey (100% of ticket cost for 2 hour delay) and return journey (50% of ticket cost for 75 minute delay).
