I start my trainI gotta course on Monday for FGW as a Manoeuvrer at Reading.

It’s all been a bit last minute, so I’ve not been given a great detail of information as to what to expect.

Apparently it will be the ‘Local Induction’.

I’ve not been offered any uniform, so what would you suggest I wear?

I don’t want to look a total nugget on my first day!!

Smart Casual is always a winner.

You don't specifically need a full whistle but a shirt/tie/trouser combo keeps it relaxed but professional

Wear a suit, if it's too formal lose the jacket and even the tie if needs be but better to turn up a little overdressed and look smart than be the guy who didn't bother on his first day. First impressions count.

For an office job maybe, but for a depot based role like this, walking round fully suited and booted will be a bit over the top (and probably not very practical either).

For a first day I’d always go suited and booted. As Paepo said, you can lose the jacket and tie if necessary.

Wear something that will be comfy under full Hi-Viz, that’s probably what you’ll be wearing to go round the depot. (It’s what you’ll be wearing as a Mano anyway).

Probably be shoved in an office or classroom all day doing inductions anyway. Go in a suit, take a ruck sack with a change of clothes if you really want to. One think I know is, I’d rather turn up in shirt & ties while everyone is in jeans, than turn up in jeans while everyone else is in a suit!!

Ive applied for this role part time recently in september but HR said they are waiting for instruction from management on when to progress to the next stage of recruitment-has anyone else applied for this part time role?
