Announcements/time/progress/reservations all working correctly on TP11 when I traveled last Sunday, assume same updates will be installed on TP09 in due course.
Speaking of which, I am APPALLED to see that TransPennine Express have retained the same shocking excuse for an announcement voice on the Mark 5s as used on the 185s, and by that I mean the tortuously sarcastic Northern man. Even the depressing woman who used to do it is better than him.

Possibly, but what I have seen is the trolley unloading on a ramp through the (only) passenger door, not the staff door. It seems unlikely that plans ever anticipated use of separate ramps at separate doors for both wheelchairs and the trolley, so with the other door used only by the guard, the disabled toilet end of the first class coach will suffer congestion.
Long-term, catering will be loaded using a station ramp (where installed) through the staff only door. The current method of work is a result of only having the one daily diagram. The catering operation on Nova is dramatically different to Cl 185 so when more of the fleet is introduced, it will be a little easier to deliver the proposition.

1F60 was delayed at York and left 4 late, 6 late at Huddersfield and the stopper to Piccadilly preceded it at 11.28, so the Liverpool was 16 late away. The delay at York seems to have been caused by other late trains. 1E37 cancelled, problem with the brakes.

1E37 12:56 Liverpool LS-Scarborough cancelled throughout. 68027 plus TP09 forward as 5H37 15:40 Liverpool LS-Longsight.

Rest of the diagram 1F74/1E51/1P98/5F86 currently shown as running, maybe 6025 to plus TP04 back from Scarborough?

EDIT: Looks like the 185 off the 13:56 Liverpool-Scarborough is being stepped up to work 1F74.

TPE Nova 3 sets
The big news this week has been the introduction into passenger service of 68025 ‘Superb’ working with TP04, bringing the active passenger fleet up to three sets.

TP11 has had some software updates so that glitches with automated announcements and information display time have been fixed. Electronic reservations are now in operation on all sets.

There have been a few cancellations due to a shortage of train crew.

Happy to be corrected on any of the info, details of workings below:)

Fingers crossed for the second diagram to start from Monday 23.09.2019.

Fault Free Running
In previous weeks 68030 plus TP12 had been active but there hasn’t been any activity the past week. I wonder if TP12 has been accepted by TPE?

A very quiet week indeed. I wonder if Scarborough drivers are now being trained on Nova 3 sets?

The HVAC seems to lack filtration, so whilst it's nice being blasted in your armpits by a breeze it's not so good when you pass by a freshly manured field, a fire or someone onboard decides to dose themselves in perfume.

Internal email update says both Nova 3s running today cancelled due to interface issues on the units. 1F60 being the last service to run with a 68 today.
What this means I don't know, wether this will see any running tomorrow I also don't know. What both Nova 3s means again unknown as I wasn't aware of more than one diagram today but the fact it was said raises an eyebrow. There was a begging email from resources yesterday stating rest day work was available for a Mk5 signed crew which may tie in with today's cancellations....

Don't listen to BBC Humberside then! The "Voice" is sports presenter Neil Rudd, who also works for TPE out of Hull.

Could have been worse, might have been my voice....

Due to a fault on the unit, it will be taken out of service at 1155 when it reaches Manchester Victoria (Running as 1F60).
1E37 and 1F74 have been cancelled, we are hoping to find a 185 unit so we can run 1E51.

Quite a bad week for the Mk5a sets then, just ahead of the supposedly 2 trains in passenger service.
Maybe next week will be better.

68025 + TP04 failed at Scarborough late on Thursday, reportedly due to a parking brake fault on the DT. Was abandoned overnight with the final service using a 185 and over 80 mins late leaving Scarborough.

68027 + TP09 failed in service on Friday. Suggestion was the same fault, but not sure.

68026 + TP11 failed in service today.

Yep, I can see everything is ready for 2 diagrams a day from Monday.

It'll have to happen at some point eventually and when it does it'll be rather fantastic for the North route, I find your tone of voice in this rather pessimistic - It's time for change!

Days a Nova 3 has completed a full diagram:
August 25/30
September 3/4/5/7/8/9/10/13/14/15/16/17/18

Days a Nova 3 didn’t complete a full diagram due to the train:
August 24/26/27*/28*/29*
September 6/19/20/21

*Nova 3 started diagram part way through the day.

Days when the diagram was part cancelled due to ‘shortage of train crew’ I’ve counted as ‘completed’.

I think overall it looks like a good introduction into service, especially given the small number of sets available and the high daily mileages (the current diagram being over 800 miles).

The first week was bound to be a bit fraught as all staff got used to the new trains.

Interestingly though things settled down very quickly and we have that long string of ‘good’ days in September.

Three problems in three days seems a bit odd after that excellent run, especially with only three prior occasions where a diagram terminated due to the train.

Happy to be corrected on the above and I’ll update. I don’t have access to any official industry information, I’ve used the TPE ‘Journey Check’ to classify the days, which obviously doesn’t give the full story behind the days the train didn’t complete its diagram...
EDIT: Lists altered to show 29/08 as * since the initial part of the diagram was missed. Thank you to @68011 for the correction.

Fascinating stuff, thank you for all your summaries, they are very, very interesting. Although its early days, and discounting 68025 as its only worked once, would it be true to say that 68027 and its set has proved to be more reliable that 68026 and its set?

The business end of a 68!

You can understand how difficult it is getting two different manufacturers systems working together properly especially when neither of them helped TPE fully in this matter and so they have had to try and sort the problem themselves.
