Heard from someone at Exeter St Davids today, that 150202/207/216 are due to leave GWR for Northern at the end of this month, I thought it was a bit odd as 207 only went to GWR several months ago. If anyone could confirm anything it would be great :)
I think it's pointless that 207 was repainted into the GWR livery If GWR knew it was going back to Northern

With 6 more 333s left to do im beginning to wonder what will happen to the last remaining unrefurbished 333, whether it will remain in service until it goes to holbeck or will it be withdrawn until it's been refurbished

Why on earth would they not keep it in service until it’s turn comes?

it's like saying withdraw all the 323s until they've been all refurbished and there's nothing wrong with railcam as they cover most of the WCML and ECML lines nearest one for you is york, if you want to put up a cam send them an email, apologies for going of topic.

There's no need for them to be withdrawn, they're already PRM compliant so can remain in service until refurbished.

To be honest, the 323s need PRM mods so it's different than saying it about the last 333

I got railcam because with the intension to track 333s going to and from Holbeck but when I found out I decided not to use it
That and things are locked behind a pay wall

They won't use all avaliable units everyday will they?
Yes they will, if they weren't using them all there would never be a DMU covering a 333 diagram. There'll be a couple under maintenance/refurb but the others will all be out

I read these threads from time to time but would like to see that page that listed all the refurbished trains so far, if anyone has the link to it? Thanks.

Travelling from Carlisle to Bingley on Tuesday the 17th September, couldn't help noticing how shabby some of the refurbs in the past have been. This is 158859. Can anyone spot any original fittings which have not been changed since 1991/92!20190917_104804.jpg

This is not a refurbished unit. It is a unit with the necessary January 2020 PRM mods which are far more important than the refurb. The refurb will come later.

However if we are talking about previous refurbs then yes, they were half baked to say the least mainly consisting of new carpets and seat trim.

The glass in the partition for the luggage rack with that old etching on it! Wow. I'd forgotten about that. Half expected to see the payphone that the SWT 159s had in the background of the vestibule!

Depends which ones. I've been on one of the Northern Connect sets and they basically have the same interior as the Class 195, though the materials look rather cheap in places. Most notably due to the thin-backed ironing board seats replacing the thick-backed, steeply-raked originals but in a near-original layout legroom is absolutely excellent in all seats.

Are there two standards of refurb being done?

I’m talking the previous incumbents refurb (Serco/Abellio). The only train that had a new seat throughout the whole franchise was 144012!

Thanks, that ties in with my list although I count units in works as not done.
I lost track after the previous two weekends various moves to and from works.

The luggage rack had what appeared to be regional railways era carpet, and the overhead racks are definitely original!
I would have taken more pictures but I had been up all night fishing at St Bees.....I fell asleep somewhere near Armathwaite!

Think you are missing the point Neptune.
This unit was absolutely filthy and an eagle eyed person like myself spotted some original fittings, which got me thinking.
What is a refurbished train???

The majority of 158’s in the Northern fleet which have had the PRM modifications are not classed as a refurbishment. Only the units with the new seats in can be classed as refurbished and then they are not entirely complete.

The previous franchise gave the units a refresh (although claimed it was a refurb) which is why so many original fittings remain.

Some original fittings will remain on the refurbished units such as lighting panels, luggage rack etc... as there is no need to replace them as they are still fit for purpose.

Yes they are coming to us at Northern but I’ve not heard an official date of their arrival. 3 more to tick of my to drive list.

Nope, not a chance. We are only getting 150001 & 150002 in April.
