On a different note,
More changes coming for Rapid One and i4 from 29th September.
Anyone know the details?
i4 - Minor changes
Rapid one - Evening journeys go to Friday and Saturday only.

Two villager drivers yesterday were talking about a future change to the route where the loop in Etwall will be reinstated that was part of the old V2 route.

NCTs new single decks are not Biogas and are not for the 53/54 but will allow a cascade of Solo SRs to those routes.

Not going back to diesel are they? The Green Line 11's are the oldest Solo SR's in the fleet and in need of a bit of TLC, would be a prime candidate for EV's if NCT were going down that route! However there are only 5 of those (if you include the Green Line 5,6,7,8 of the same age).

NCT are also wanting to expand the Trent Bridge garage , taking over buses from the Gotham one https://www.nottinghampost.com/news...-revealed-demolish-historic-buildings-3257111

Hello,
Further changes for i4 in October.
Apparently Stagecoach are introducing a X1 from Chesterfield to Nottingham.

NCT have said there will be 120 E400MMC Biogas buses in service by the end of the year

The Lime Line 58 ones seem to go up to 501, the Turquoise Line 77 ones entering service now seem to be higher numbers around 514, 517 etc.

It looks to me there is a gap for another service, numbers 502+, do we know what service this will be?

The 68 and 69 are getting new buses, which are currently being delivered.

New route: X1 Nottingham-Nuthall Road-M1-East Midlands Designer Outlook-Alfreton-Clay Cross-Chesterfield. http://www.derbysbus.info/times/timetables/X01C-191027.pdf

Nottingham to Alfreton in under 50 minutes. Nottingham to Chesterfield in 80 minutes. Bit of competition for Trent for Alfreton custom. Wonder also if an attempt to reduce congestion on the Pronto north of Mansfield by removing through Nottingham customers?

Interesting. I think, if it’s well advertised in Nottingham, it may be quite popular as a direct link between Nottingham and the East Midlands Designer Outlet. Both Derby and Mansfield have had a direct service to the outlet for years.
I wonder whether Stagecoach Day Explorer Tickets will be valid to Nottingham on this route instead of the ridiculous situation on Pronto where it’s not accepted even on Stagecoach buses.

Presuming it's not limited stop out of Nottingham then it will stop at Cinderhill Island just 10 minutes walk from me in Nuthall - & yes hoping the £7 explorer is valid as makes a round trip from Nottingham possible with Stagecoach explorer!

The X1's an interesting development.

How long is it since Stagecoach started a new route in Nottingham?

Certainly seems to be an invasion into the territory of TB, with whom they've generally been on friendly terms such as with the joint Pronto service.

Very slightly for the direct Alfreton to Nottingham passenger, but that seems to be about it. Its more of a new direct link.

Have Stagecoach ever, before now, started a new route into Nottingham?
I’m sure that both their current Pronto and Sherwood Arrow routes were originally East Midlands Motor Services routes which Stagecoach took over in 1989.

I can’t remember how Stagecoach became the main operator on the Pronto route in comparison to the number of buses operated by Trent Barton on that route. The Pronto route does have an interesting history if you go back to East Midland Motor Services days.

Stagecoach timed their buses a few years back to be in front of TBs. But I think they changed it back.
Talking of Trentbarton, is there any news on new vehicles this year?
No new buses but the electrics for Derby may arrive this year.

Someone mentioned that traffic would be taken from R1 to Alfreton, I dont think it will do as it is such a long journey

@cnjb8 thanks for confirming. I guess TB's investment in new ticket machines (I saw £2.5m quoted) has taken most of the budget this year. Presumably the electric buses for the Mickleover are BYD/ADL E200?

Those ticket machines are annoying. It will mean no mango top up on board and no mango on tram.
Yes 8 buses are due which is the PVR for Mickleover although I think with electric buses you need one more with charging and that. Also, it hasn't been confirmed to be BYD ADLs but it probably will be.

Surely if you intend to make a journey between Alfreton and Nottingham and had two options - Stagecoach taking 50 minutes or Trent Barton taking 75-80 minutes you would tend towards the quicker option in most cases?

Yes I agree with you. What I was saying is that it will be car users for Alfreton, not R1 users that use it.

With two per hour taking around 25min, the train is still the quickest for Alfreton to Nottingham - which is probably why TB takes a slow route to serve places in between rather than going for end-to-end journeys. Car users might just drive to Alfreton station if they don't drive all the way to Nottingham. So the Alfreton-Nottingham bus market may be limited to ENCTS holders who don't want to pay the train fare, plus people who have no car available and can't easily get to the station. The economics of this route are beginning to look a bit marginal to me.
