staff were saying at the scene of 170207's delivery that they had 6 755s and only handed down one 170, anyway 170272 is now in Wales!

I can understand their frustration but the deployment of their replacements hasn't been quite as clear cut as that (see the 755 thread).

I travelled on 271 yesterday afternoon for what was likely to have been for the final time in these parts. They will be missed.

The thing with Crown Point is its a relatively small depot for what it does to start with and with redevelopment there to work on the Stadler fleet its capacity to handle work, especially on the Mk3s is really limited currently.

Ilford has taken a bit of the strain and a set goes to Bounds Green on a daily basis for work. Perhaps for some reason Cardiff is well equipped for more in depth work on DVTs that other nearer depots can't do.

Thanks for that, I didn't realise that Crown Point would be that small considering that work it needs to do. Canton deals with Gerald on the weekdays between it coming down and going back up to Holyhead, and maybe easier to get to than wherever Chiltern maintains their Mk3's.

Might mostly be down to experience - Chiltern maintain theirs at Wembley I think

I’m pretty sure it was. Like 95% sure. It wasn’t a Re-liveried 175 & nothing else is that shape or colour.

It was a 170, almost certain.

Plus there were only 2 170s parked up at Canton, I made a conscious decision to look.

in that case, as 3 170s have been delivered so far, I'm guessing that 170207 was on a training run, and that 170270 and 170272 were the 2 at Canton :)

Three 170s have indeed been delivered but none have been off Canton. Even if one had, the class is not cleared to work west of Canton.

What time was this? All three 170s were parked at the back of Canton at 1600 but only two were visible from certain vantage points.

Have only 3 170s been displaced by those because of teething problems or what...?
They are not all in traffic at once yet & far less flexible as can only currently work on the Wherry & Cambridge routes & only Norwich crews sign them. GA have 170204 out of traffic for accident repairs as well as losing the short set.

I’ve heard Canton is pretty full as well... don’t know if lack of space is contributing to delayed deliveries for now

even with just the ATW fleet, I couldn't get my head around how potentially up to 70+ units could be stored there, unless I'm getting that wrong! what would have to be done to allow the rest of the extra trains to be delivered...?

I thought a new depot was being built at Taff Wells in the Valleys?
