Yes, but with UK morning KOs it will be difficult to feel as though it is a major tournament.

My rugby club have 150 for breakfast on Sunday for England v Tonga. Unfortunately the team I coach is away so I can't make it!

My eldest son was supposed to play during the England game tomorrow. Luckily that's been cancelled now.

It was tough only watching parts of the Japan game yesterday (I'm a teacher so can't just have it on in the background).

The Australia v Fiji game was definitely worth waking up at 5:30 for. Now looking forward to France v Argentina.

I was due to be teaching for two hours (11:00 - 13:00) yesterday, but the lecture was cancelled, and I got to see most of the Wales match instead. :)

Uruguay caused the first upset of the tournament against Fiji.

Hopefully the England second string cam beat the US tomorrow.

That headline caused me to do a double-take this morning when I saw it. That's quite an about-turn for Fiji from last November, when they got the better of France in Paris. I look forward to seeing Squidge Rugby's analysis of this match!

(For those that don't know, Squidge Rugby is a youtuber who makes really good (and somewhat funny) analysis videos of rugby matches. This year he's done a profile of every team competing in the World Cup, and is planning on making an analysis video for each and every match.)

I believe every Uruguay player is amateur. Compared to the Fiji players with professional contracts with top English and French clubs.

I'll give that YouTuber a go.

The Uruguayan Union gave a few tens of players a professional contract in the run-up to the world cup, but the total number of registered players in Uruguay is only about 4000!

Jolly, Jolly ruggers. Pip Pip old bean. Tally Ho. Play up, play up and play the game

New Zealand will win. End tournament. ( The fact there is £50 in the sweep stake riding on this is of no interest to me ;) )

And no I am not watching it because it is on at silly times, I am at work, the group games are turgid and rugby folk are often dull. I might watch it at the business end as long as no real sports are on.

Bit of a lazy stereotype the first part? Not all rugby folk are the Prawn Sandwich Brigade from the West Car Park at Twickenham.

New Zealand will almost certainly win (hopefully not) but I do remember them being the dominant team between 2004 and 2007 and yet being knocked out in the quarters... I think the sport needs All Black dominance to be eroded.

If the rugby folk are dull then you are hanging out with the wrong ones. Football and cricket etc have their fair share of bores too.

The annoying ones are the ones who only follow the Six Nations etc. I also find the atmosphere at Twickenham is very different for club games as it is for internationals.

To be fair some of the pool games have been far more exciting then I thought they'd be. The first 50 mins of Australia v Fiji was definitely worth waking up at 5:40 for. Uruguay v Fiji was also a great watch.

Russia also gave Japan and Samoa bloody noses despite ultimately being thrashed in the end.

I was there in Cardiff when the all-conquering All Blacks got knocked out in the quarter final by a frankly rubbish French side. Never underestimate the Kiwis' ability to throw it away.

I'll probably follow the tournament more when it hots up, but as with the football World Cup in 2002, I don't care enough to get up at 6am unless The Baby has dragged me up for a feed and a bum change.

I played rugby for 20 years for various clubs at a decent local level. I love the game of rugby and the playing of rugby. I don't like rugby people. I never felt I fitted in and my views on people, society and life were very different to the majority.

I have never found any atmosphere at Twickers and certainly not in a club game! Nothing like football.

Anyway - England ran in plenty of tries which his always good for confidence.

The "tally-ho" sterotype of rugby people you dislike isn't one that I recognise, but perhaps that's because I'm on the other side of Offa's Dyke. I'm told that of England's 2015 world cup squad, all but 3 of the 34 players were from public schools, whereas in Wales' squad, only 3 were from public schools.

That's not to say that Welsh rugby doesn't / hasn't had it's own problems, but they're of a different nature. I've earwigged on many a grumble about rugby governance between fans on rugby terraces, often opposing fans having a good whinge together.

The only international fixture I've attended in person was a Wales v South Africa autumn international in Cardiff, on a day when the English Defence League and their sister wing Welsh Defence League* decided to hold a rally in town. The small group coralled together by police at the bottom of St Mary's Street looked a little pitiful, imho. In response, counter-protesters were handing out flyers with both rugby teams' national anthems, the idea being to all sing together in the stadium before the match. My now-wife (who'd only ever attended football matches previously) was surprised at the fact that fans weren't segregated, and that we were sat next-door to a few South African fans.

*Funnily enough, the only flags I saw carried by the EDL+WDL rally was the St George's Cross. Not a red dragon or daffodil among them...

Pool A is very interesting now. Everybody is talking about Ireland, Scotland and Japan. I have a feeling Samoa will ruin somebody's party. It is not inconceivable that they could make the quarters.

Starting to get nervous about England v Argentina. We should win but we do have habit of being chokers in big games.

Unfortunately I'm taking my son to an away game so I will miss Wales v Australia.

That Japan result is incredible even if it does mess up my predictor thing!
They’re the ultimate bogey team.
They’ve obviously not received the memo that they’re meant to be rolled over by the main nations.

It's not the same as football, but when I've been to watch Newcastle at Kingston Park there's been a decent atmosphere, especially at night matches. Being able to have a beer on the terrace helps, mind.

Cardiff on a big match day has a cracking atmosphere. So does Murrayfield.

This Wales v Aus game is no boring group match as was the Japan v Ireland yesterday.

My brother is out there for three weeks following Scotland and a few other games, it looks like the trip of a life time. Shinkansen to boot!

Don't normally follow Rugby but I managed to catch the last 20 mins or so of the Wales - Australia match whilst having breakfast in my local Spoons this morning - quite a thriller it was!

We will have to disagee. I find rugby crowds sterile. There is no edge and no real tribal or family belonging. I have never been at rugby and felt that roar you get at football when something happens to spark a game into life. Hell they dont even abuse the referee!

Frankly it is all a bit middle class for me!

It makes me wonder where you've seen rugby. I've been in plenty of passionate crowds and had that roar. I don't think I've been to a game and not heard loud 'disagreements' with the ref.

Lack of tribalism? Tell that to the Celts when they play the English...

It is nothing. Honestly. It is nothing like football. Rugby people think the atmosphere is fantastic at thier games. It isnt. It is sterile and all far too polite at least to my tastes

It is a great game but wasted on the fans imo. Rugby League ( which was FAR to hard for me to play) is much better atmosphere wise. Perhaps it is a northern working class thing?

Anyway like I said my entire predictor is down the toilet. Made worse by Wales holding on agaisnt the Aussies!

League is more tribal, definitely. The Hull derby can get very nasty, as can St Helens/Wigan and Leeds/Bradford (back in the day).

Twickers is sterile and prawn sandwichy, all flasks of tea and tartan blankets, but whenever I've been to the internationals at the Millennium Stadium it's been totally different. It's good, especially with the floodlights on and the roof shut. One of the best atmospheres I've seen at a sporting event was the France v New Zealand world cup quarter final at Cardiff.

The world cup pool A is quite open now. i did pick Ireland and Scotland to progress from that group ( and i think they will) but Ireland have made it harder than it should have been

So Scotland (and others) could get knocked out of this competition if their last match is cancelled because of the weather?

What a rotten and unfair way to run a tournament!

Absolutely! I know next to nothing about rugby but have watched all the Scotland games, as I did at the last World Cup - so to go out through no fault of our own 2 tournaments in a row is infuriating.
This is no way to run what is supposed to be your sports biggest tournament.
The cynic in me smells something fishy in the fact that the host nation can go through because their final group game got cancelled due to weather.
As dodgy as the next football World Cup being in Qatar is, I don’t think even they’d CANCEL a game.
