Morning, hoping one of you knowledgeable people here will be able to tell me if Moorgate to Kings Cross on the LU Northern line is classed as an inter-available route, so I can therefore use a dated box to travel for free?

I’m fairly clued up with my priv travel, but the inter available routes completely fox me! Be handy if RST produced a map for this.

It depends what your intended journey is. The Staff Travel Card for Safeguarded staff ("boxes") where appropriately dated is valid for free travel on LU services on any Interavailable routes. You can view a list of Interavailable routes in our fares guide which the poster above has helpfully linked to.

Gold and Silver Status passes offer free travel on certain LU lines. Blue Status passes offer free travel on certain LU lines dependent on the region the pass was issued for.

Thanks for your assistance. I read that I can travel Northern Line between KX and Old Street and Moorgate with my valid travel ticket.

Still think a map would be handy. RSTL have done one for the various status passes showing LU inter available routes.

The routes status passes are valid on are a bit more complex however I suppose; and technically Status Passes do not cover Interavailable routes; they just offer free travel. There are some Interavailable routes that are not valid with Status Passes but by and large most Interavailable routes are valid.

I should also point out for others that staff travel passes (eg. free travel for employees and partners/dependents of certain Tocs on their Toc) are NOT valid for free travel on Interavailable routes, this concession is explicitly restricted for holders of Safeguarded passes with a dated box.

Presumably that works both ways. LU staff cannot use TOC trains unless they've filled in a box. And what about TOC specific tickets (if any exist on Interavailable routes)?
But surely a PRIV discounted ticket would be valid backed by a Staff Travel Card - a box doesn't have to be dated if a ticket is held?

For staff that are eligible for boxes then for travel on any other route then yes they would have to fill in a box (or pay for a Priv rate paper ticket/Priv rate Pay As You Go) like it would for travel on any other National Rail service, although TfL (but not bus operator) staff and Nominee passes are valid on an extremely limited number of NR routes in their own right without boxes.

The OP was referring to people who are travelling for free on their boxes rather than with a Priv discounted ticket, and the bit quoted was just me talking about ordinary staff passes for free travel on the employee’s own Toc/owning group.
