I have just tried to book my occasional weekday journey back from Liverpool to Nuneaton departing at 07:25 and arriving 09:44 and it's no longer available. I see from this thread that journeys via Manchester were removed on 25 June.

This happened before a few years ago, but was reversed when I pointed out, as is still the case, that there are times of day when the fastest NUN-LIV journey is via Manchester.

How can I appeal this change? It's madness when the fastest journeys are blocked. The next train that is still valid takes an astonishing 2:37 and gets me home too late, and I certainly don't want to have to get up any earlier than I should have to.

Send an FOI request to the DfT asking if they approved it.

You could further ask if they did approve it when did they approved this change, and why did they approve it?

And if they did not approve it, what enforcement action will they take against Rail Delivery Group, and what measures will be taken to prevent further removals of reasonable routes by RDG?

It's almost as if someone at RDG is encouraging passengers to use split ticketing sites?! And as for Virgin Trains' false claims, I'd be careful if I was them because a class action lawsuit would have a good chance of succeeding in my opinion.

Thanks for the response Yorkie. I have submitted a FoI request. Hopefully the Rail Delivery Group team responsible for routeing change will see this post and reinstate the via-MAN route, as they did when I posted further up this thread about the same matter a few years ago.

Actually, I can see my posting has been relocated to a thread of its own, so I hope the RDG still see it.

The DfT has no contractual relationship with RDG and no means of enforcement with them. Their contractual relationship is with the flow owning TOC and it is the TOC that they would need to follow this up with (although as you have often noted, the DfT don't have the expert knowledge and capability to mange the fares structure that they oversee).

One of my friends Contaced South West Trains regarding a change they had made and roughly six months later or so it was revsered. So I agree with contacting the TOC.

Edit: I see the change has been reversed or modified to allow via Manchester.

Far better to post it on here and get it sorted in a matter of days
