Hello,
first thread here - hope its in the right place.

On Saturday morning I was getting a Scotrail service from Glasgow to Edinburgh via Cumbernauld when I noted that the Scotrail website was telling me we were due to stop at Princes Street Gardens between Haymarket and Waverley.

This was also showing on the platform indicators at intermediate stations and on the announcement boards on the actual trains.

Imagine my disappointment when there wasn't actually a new station that had been built without my knowledge over the last couple of months.

So anyone know why this "phantom" station was showing up in information everywhere? I know its used as a waypoint on Real Time Trains but actually seeing it on boards, trains and the website was a bit odd - its not something I'd seen before.

A glitch in the matrix?

There was a recent case where the stoppers between Leeds and Huddersfield via Dewsbury had the booked pass at Heaton Lodge Junction down as a passenger call rather than an operational stop. The PIS at Dewsbury had it on as well, but only as the TIPLOC (I think) code

Still happening today, though looks to be only for westbound trains

Looking for today, the ones I have looked at are in RTT in light type, rather than bold, which suggests operational stop.

Only occurs westbound as that way trains can be looped, there is no such loop eastbound (the only passing point between Huddersfield and Leeds being at Dewsbury station itself)

I looked on national rail enquiries and the 21:21 off Leeds shows a spurious stop at HETNLJN

Nothing new. I don't have the timetable any more but some time back in the 70s I remember an Aberystwyth train in the All Systems Timetable had a footnote saying that it called at Talerddig.

I was on an London-Edinburgh Azuma today which thought that it was stopping at Abbeyhill Jn before it arrived at Waverley.

The best I've seen is when a Waterloo -Reading service gets diverted via Weybridge and reverses beyond Virginia Water, not only does Virginia Water appear twice, but so does "Virginia Water Signal ***"

Or last year when an early morning GC from Bradford was diverted towards Leeds but reversed outside the station to head towards Wakefield, calling at "Leeds Signal ***, Wakefield Kirkgate, Doncaster"
