An update on this locked thread please.
https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/scotrail-retb-class-156s.127877/

From the above, it would appear that RETB was fitted to the following in 2016
156445/447/450/453/456/457/458/465/474/476/477/478?485/492/493/496/499/500.

Can anyone supply an updated list of those that currently have RETB fitted please? I see that some can sometimes be fitted with portable kits and so might appear on the WHL, but which ones are usually allocated to these services.

I see that 156492 is noted in the list above. This was my last one for sight and I saw it and had it for haulage on Glasgow Central - E Kilbride / Barrhead services last week, so maybe has had the equipment removed?

A productive few days out has reduced my Scotrail 156 haulage needs from around 30 to 12. And belting weather for a trip to Ft William and Mallaig too.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers

447, 465, 485 and 496 (and also 449 which isn't on the list - I think that was also RETB fitted) all moved to Northern in December 2018. Not sure if the RETB equipment that was fitted to those units was transferred to units that ScotRail have kept or not.

Thanks Dan

Whoops! Should have got my lists up to date before posting. I had completely forgotten about the ones that had come south...

I blame old age and too many bits of paper to manage!. One day I'll put them all on a spreadsheet but too much to do and not enough time...

Scotrail don’t have any portable radios, so if a 156 isn’t RETB fitted it shouldn’t make an appearance on the WHL. Not unknown for an unfitted unit to sneak in though....

The RETB kit from those away to Northern may be fitted to the 153,s at Bodies. Believe that info is from other users on this forum :)

Note that RETB fitted 156s are not used exclusively on the WHL, they can be found on other routes too.

Currently fitted-
156445/446/450/453/456/457/458/474/476/477/478/492/493/499/500.

As mentioned above, 447/449/465/485/496 also previously had it fitted however these transferred to Northern last year. I believe these units may still have it, open to confirmation.

478 got the equipment refitted after being returned to service under lease from Brodie, Kilmarnock following flood damage repairs.

Some other units also have the brackets for RETB (which they have had for years) however the wiring was never fitted for it.

I see that 156492 is noted in the list above. This was my last one for sight and I saw it and had it for haulage on Glasgow Central - E Kilbride / Barrhead services last week, so maybe has had the equipment removed?

RETB units aren't restricted to WHL duties and quite often are seen on other services, also usually to do with when units are scheduled for maintenance.
