What's your longest journey on a 150 ( or noisy equivalent ) in recent times?

Today I ended up on a 150 from Holyhead to Maesteg.....that is a beast of a journey. ( I luckily was on a very short part of that)

Can anyone beat it ? Mileage or time wise but only on a pacer, 153, 150, or something equally as shocking.

Glasgow Queen Street - Mallaig and Whitby - Carlisle are both journeys about 5 hours long that use 156s. Not unheard of for a 142 to appear on the Whitby - Carlisle ones either.

0900 Cardiff Cen to Penzance is currently booked 150, the Holyhead to Maesteg isn't but they often sub on the route.

Did 150s not used to do some horrendous hauls under either BR or Central Trains? Stuff like Pwllheli - Cleethorpes or similar?

The 06:30 Manchester to Milford Haven and 13:08 return was formed of a 150 today too
For booked work the 153 on 17:20 Crewe to Cardiff via the Heart of Wales booked over 6 and a half hours must take some beating

1448 Gloucester to Fishguard is roughly 4 hours. Not sure what’s booked, but generally seems to be a 150 (although I’ve seen both 142 and 143 as well).

Yes. Not sure if it was the booked traction. I believe that was a 156. But the 150 did appear. I have the 150/0 on a Cardiff - Cleethorpes ones covering a 158. The even put the reservations out.

When I was at Uni and living in Bath I remember 150s often did Weymouth services to Bristol and their extensions; the Great Malvern-Weymouth service in particular is over 4 hours long, although I only had got it between Bath and Weymouth a few times and once went to Worcester and back on one. The 165/166 cascade may have seen 150s off that service now though.

I willingly travelled on the London Midland 150 Farewell. That was about 12 hours on a 150, though we did break it up with a few pubs. Primarily, it was a good excuse for a piss up.

Holyhead to Maesteg on one, even one of the comparatively nice TfW ones, sounds atrocious.

When the 150s first arrive regional put them on long distance services. Certainly did long trans-pennine trips. 6 car 150 cheaper to run than loco + 6, and a new train too.
And didnt they do some long trips while the 155's were getting door mods. Manc-Cardiff for instance. All this before the 158's.
I bet they stood in for 158's while they were getting track circuit actuators fitted too.
Has a pacer ever done Leeds-Carlisle?

On an explore Wales pass a few years ago I had double 153 Cardiff to Swansea which then formed a HoW and went all the way to Shrewsbury. Loved every minute of it.

Class 142's to Carlisle????

Most certainly have. A Mersey rail one to boot. Had the luxury of the 37 loco hauled to Leeds and the 142 back. That's going back a while now.

Nice excuse :E

The TfW ones may be comparatively nice but the are still bl**** noisy. TfW (actually Arriva when they were running the franchise) do seem to have done a good job at making the best of the crappy stock they have, but having been on the Gloucester to Fishguard a couple of times I can thoroughly recommend avoiding it unless you are profoundly deaf, in which case it’s relatively comfortable and you can have a lovely breeze with all the windows open. :E

153s (singly) do this day in and day out. Round about 2002 there was a 153 worked service from Cheltenham to Shrewsbury via Chepstow, Cardiff, Swansea and HOWL
