Hi. According RTT at Eastbourne station 13 377s and 1 171 2-car units berthed overnight (normally at weekdays). One 2-car 171 5D67 to form 2D02 and 3x377s 5G50 to form 5F94+1F01+1G02 (splitting at small hours) berthed at platforms. 5G50 originates from sidings where it formed off 5F50 (presumably) which is also 3x377s.
Eastbourne sidings roads 2 to 5 accommodate 10x377s. Not counting 5F50 forming 5G50 later this evening those are 1x377 5F54, 2x377s 5G69, 2x377s 5G75, 2x377s 5G77 and 3x377s 5G79.
They are form next morning 3x377s 5F83 (off 5G79) then at platform forming 1F03 (4 car) and 5F06 (8 cars), 3x377s 5F86 (off 5F54 and 5G69) then at platform forming 2G01 (4 car) and 1F07 (8 car),
2x377s 5F89 (off 5G77) then at platform forming 1G06, 2x377s 5F11 (off 5G75) then at platform forming 1F11.
Is it correct and normally booked quite so?
Are there only four roads (2 to 5) used for overnight berthing?
Great if anyone could clarify. Thanks in advance.

Roads 2-6 are normally used for berthing
2&6 both hold 12 cars
3&4 both hold 8 cars
& 5 is 4 cars
Road 1 holds 18 but is not used LTP for berthing.
The 171 is usually berthed in road 5.
I can’t remember of the top of my head what berths for what SX, but I’ll have a look tomorrow when I’m in the office unless you get an answer in the meantime

During the week, 5F50 (12 377) is berthed overnight in road 2 and forms 5F86 (12 377) the following morning; 5F54 (4 377) is berthed in road 3, with 5G75 (4 377) off of 2G74 attaching to it in the sidings later in the evening to form 5F89 (8 377) the following morning; 5G69 (8 377) is berthed in road 4 and forms 5F11 (8 377) the following morning.

As you say, 5D67 berths in platform 2 overnight to form 2D02. The rest of the 377 arrivals during the evening berth at the discretion of the signaller and control, based on which diagrams they want them working the following day.

The other movements into and out of the sidings tend not to happen.

The platform allocations on RTT should be taken with a pinch of salt. On a typical weekday morning, Eastbourne will have 5F06 (8 377) on platform 3, 2D02 (2 171); 1F01 (4 377); and 5F94 (4 377) all sharing platform 2, and then 1F03 (4 377) and 1G02 (4 377) on platform 1.

Thank you mate! A bit strange because Eastbourne platforms and sidings overnight very vary from day to day. IMHO no other Southern stabling points are so flexible in terms of the rolling stock`s allocation :)

Thanks! Didn`t know that road 6 used for stabling. Is it the road the nearest to blocks of Commercial Rd and couple years ago used for class 442 units storage?

Yes that’s the one, there is an 8 377& 4 377 booked in there that come out as a 12 car, however it can vary depending on what the shunters decide

Thanks. I think it must have been 5F54 (4 377s) and one of 5G69, 5G75 or 5G77 (8 377s). But it depends on...
Seems to me 5G50 is very rare in reality :)

No worries buddy :D Yeah, Eastbourne's berthing routine can appear quite random at times as it can change from night to night. The flexibility is quite useful, however, when units are required at Lovers Walk for exams/repairs.
