I hope it all goes well - the club was one of BR's better marketing ideas, and I really enjoyed being a member for a few years when I was a kid. Never saw that bloody loco, though! I lived on the Southern, and all we got in my neck of the woods was 33s and 73s!

The magazine was always pretty good - will you revive Ben Racey, the superhero futuristic train driver? I wanted to be him, he had a foxy female sidekick too!

It did get there - I’ve got a photograph of it at Waterloo on a NSE Network day.

Hopefully they get some better people to promote the 21st Century version of the club. o_O

I also have fond memories of Rail Riders - great to see a version coming back - great work. Being from Leeds, I used to see 47406 - then 47488 - on the Trans-Pennines regularly. I also got a photo printed in the magazine in the early days - you could send in photos of 47406 - remember? :)

So have I (somewhere!). My dad and I were going to the Seaton Tramway near Axminster, and it had brought in the stock for our train. Presumably it had been on the London-bound working of our train.

There's also a thread on the original Rail Riders club at https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/railriders.42981/ and a now-closed thread at https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/rail-riders-club.58138/

Hint to Bachmann, do another run of 47406s in Intercity livery and 47488 in Large Logo livery with "Rail Riders" nameplates

It was done as a limited edition for Rails of Sheffield about a decade ago. It came with a rail riders badge and post card. It was the first limited edition model I bought.
