Pretty chaotic at Peterborough yesterday at around 1600.
As soon as I saw what was going on I abandoned my plan to get back to Nottingham via Grantham and re-routed via Leicester using the Stansted to Birmingham cross country service, which was unaffected by the disruption.
Not sure if it's related, but just came out of the Canal Tunnels to pass a queue fof 4 x LNER plus 1 x Grand Central all awaiting platforms at Kings Cross.
The GC was in the platform at Finsbury Park.
Oh for the Leamside line. But at least the bi-mode trains can cope with short-notice diversions (assuming gauge clearance has been done)."Major disruption until the end of the day", so unlikely to be a false alarm.
LNER may run via Durham coast line, according to NRE.
I know right? Gotta be a heck of a lot quicker than going via the Coast.Oh for the Leamside line.
I believe the HT unit involved stopped blocking the crossing - whether it was physically blocking it or the track circuit blocking it preventing a route being set I don’t know.Interesting that Newark Castle - Lincoln is also impacted. I guess it happened near the crossing.

Moving at about 1125...I was unfortunately caught up in this as it happened. 11:06 from Edinburgh to Penzance arrived approx 10:55 - all good. Then at 11:06 turned to 'Delayed' - however, the onboard team could not have been more helpful and kept us updated fully. We were moving from about 11:40 which isn't too bad. Luckily, I was only travelling to Berwick so unsure of the onward disruption past there!
