142005 still sat on #17 Stores Road on Newton Heath, should be clearly visible from passing Metrolink trams. Some evidence of parts removal, with what looks like a water pump and coolant pipe inside the local door at the cab at the east end. The driver's seat will be nice and wet with the cab window open. Still got its stickers proclaiming it 'retiring today' on one side of each vehicle. 005 was always one of the worst examples both to drive and of its interior condition, and if I am not mistaken it was one of the (six?) 142s placed into warm storage for a short while in Oct 2009 when the Oldham Loop closed and I believe that Northern Rail (as it was) negotiated for more subsidy before those units re-entered service.

Noted in the North East yesterday (12/10) were:

142 015 / 142 064 on Saltburn to Darlington shuttles.
142 089 on BA to Saltburn services along with 156 444 and 158 849.
Along the coast 142 091 and 142 068 with many 156 / 158 sets in evidence.

Any reports on the workings of 142 022 (if it ever ventures out of Heaton) / 054 / 090 / 094 would be welcomed as I still require them for haulage.

When was the last time a 142 found it's way onto the Mid Cheshire line? Travelled Chester to Altrincham on Friday and seemed there were only 150s and 156s in action.
