9M09 1103 Newcastle-Liverpool is cancelled along with the 1425 return (9E14). Issue with train crew is the reason given.

Is everything still going to plan with today's diagram? Am hoping to make the 17:02 from Newcastle.

Yes, just seen them both at Huddersfield and very impressive they look too. Both more or less on time.
Great! I've just arrived in Newcastle now and I will have time to see it arrive and hopefully ride it up to Darlington too.

Now changed to electric power so looks like it will depart on electric for the 17:02 departure.

Can someone explain to the hard of thinking, me that is. Why the reporting number is 9M?? Etc as I always thought 9 was ECS, 1 or 2 being passenger. I guess by the conversations these trains are now carrying fare paying public. Thanks, Dim of Wigan!

Class 9 is widely used for passenger trains now, eg Crossrail and Thameslink. Started quite a few years ago. It wasn’t previously ECS, used to be Eurostar, but was amended a few years back and is now “anything else we decide” to paraphrase.

“Class 373 train”
“Other passenger train if specially authorised”
being the current wording in the Rule Book.

9M15 14 October from Leeds to Huddersfield in standard(after station staff removed an individual alleging assault before he boarded).

Travelling with a non-rail passenger, so not in a position to scrutinise the experience, but engine noise and vibration far less intrusive than a 185.

The other noticeable point is far less information than offered on a Nova 3 or 185 (Should these be redesignated Nova 0?)
There are no TV style screens or intermediate ceiling displays along the carriage. There are linear displays above the end doors, but they weren't working.

Catering was provided from a new design of trolley.

I had a look on the York ROC railcam on YouTube earlier to see if the diagram I’m booked onto was an 802. The camera is at the South of the station and I saw the 9M08 (1st diagram), depart on time for Liverpool at 11:09 at that was an 802. I’m hoping it stays on that diagram for my trip from Liverpool to Leeds 9E13 that departs Liverpool at 13:25.

The diagram you are interested is due to depart York on 9M11 at 14:07 for Liverpool, so if you watch the camera at that time you should see if it’s an 802. Hopefully someone more in the know can help you before then but if not YouTube, search York Roc Railcam and it’s a live feed. The train will likely be in all grey as there have been no liveried units used in passenger service this week.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful

Diagram 1: 802207 - No Passenger information system only 1 pantograph working. From Lime Street to Victoria was using rear pantograph

Diagram 2 : 802218 - When I was on it the other day Passenger Information system worked, although thought it was going all the way to Edinburgh and uses the front pantograph as both are in operation.

Both trains are yet to have livery applied
