Whatever it turns out to be, surely the brand name will either be region neutral, and/or reflect that the franchise part 2 morphs into a management contract to run HS2 services, including those on the eastern leg.
Assuming HS2 doesn't get cancelled or severely de-scoped after the review and ensuing GE.

Anything using "West Coast" will be quite incongruous on trains running between London and Leeds (and extending on the classic lines to Newcastle).

Because TOCs don't use the owning company's name as part of their brand identity any more. In fact, Virgin Trains is the only TOC left that does so.
Chiltern, Cross Country, Grand Central and Northern have all added 'by Arriva' to their branding in the last couple of years.

Might as well have added the "turd" emoticon to the livery of previously-respected Chiltern :D

OTOH, Trenitalia doesn't have that negative image in the UK - indeed, their fancy high speed trains probably have a positive one.

I think you're splitting hairs there. The brand name is not 'Arriva Chiltern Railways' but simply 'Chiltern Railways' - as it always has been.

Compare with the TPE franchise which used to be branded 'First Transpennine Express' but is now simply branded 'Transpennine Express'.

Agreed the name is still the same but there has still been a deliberate and probably expensive effort by Arriva to move away from a neutral branding to one which emphasised who the franchise holder is. Makes no difference whether the branding is before or after the name it's still there and a lot more prominent than some. I've also noticed on Scotrail there seems to be more and more Abellio logos around than there ever used to be.

If they start announcing trains as "the 11:00 Chiltern Railways by Arriva service to London Marylebone" then you might have a point. Until then...

To be fair anything using "West Coast" will be incongruous on trains between London and Glasgow for all but about half a mile of the journey!

Can't they go with whatever colour the original ' LMS' was run under , Ditto for LNER, as that LNER colour scheme on the Azuma is awful .
And the interior with the colour stripe looks so tacky compared to just about every generation of coach I've been on since being born in the late 70's .
Mind you as you folks the GWR , IMHO the green looks great , but they could have used a more authentic font.
Akin to that of the new ' EMT' ,221 , now there is a great colour scheme.

A nice colour for the w/c would be pink with green white and red wavey lines coming of a F for first and coming into a T for traintalia Both bright and modern.

Perhaps, although such a livery would be a tad "brand-centric" for the railway of the 2010s and 2020s...
First didn't exactly do themselves any favours plastering their name everywhere in the days of FGW, FGE, First ScotRail, FNW & FCC. Small, understated branding works better, particularly for transferring franchises when they expire - not saying we should do what GTR has done for Thameslink, Great Northern & Southern (white & plain blue), but unless the entire railway was bound to be operated by First/Trenitalia for eons to come, that livery doesn't hold water for me.

Sure, the FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) logo is everywhere in Italy, but that's mainly because they're the state operator...

Something like this?

Can't see that happening, honestly. I'd imagine something more along the lines of EMR.
I also doubt a logo of that nature. There was a lot of speculation that the South Western franchise would have something gWr-ish and it ended up with something related only in having Roman letters. I suspect West Coast will be different again.

Please God, no!

The last thing we need are 85 yr old liveries on modern trains. Leave them as they are and just put the new name on....
