Last night (Tuesday the 15th of October), I was on my way to Cammel Laird's at Birkenhead, when I passed a steam engine on the back of a low loader. I passed it at junction 31 (Preston A59) it was heading south at approx 2215. It appeared to be maroon in colour and looked to be an 0-6-0. As I was driving I couldn't get a better look at it.

My questions are:-
1) Does anyone know what it was?
2) Does anyone know where it was heading from and to?

Not to sure. I was doing seventy and paying more attention to the road, so only managed to glance at it.

I think Cumbria was already back at Embsay, but has Wheldale been sent off for overhaul or is that happening in-house?

Elsewhere I have seen a comment that Lindsay is now at Andrew Goodmans yard in the Midlands.
No idea if it is to remain there or move on somewhere else.

Looking at pictures of Lindsay, it is quite possible that was the locomotive I saw. The back of the loco is remarkably similar. Ta very much.

Confirmed on Facebook it was Lindsay, being transported to a new location following her sale to James Bunch Jnr. Overhaul to begin shortly.

There is an article about it in the November issue of The Railway Magazine.

According to the article, Mr. Bunch is going to return it to steam.
