Whilst out cycling on Sunday I came across 5 Class 58s in the ADIF depot at the junction of the new Alicante to Murcia high speed line at Montfort del Cid.

Nice to get an update on what's become of some of the exiled class 58s. I believe that there have been seven locos (58015/020/024/030/031/043/047) in use with Transfesa on construction of this line, with a couple of others now out of use (58029/041).

There's many more class members stored by DB at Alizay in France.

Honestly so many of these DB machines are in pretty appalling condition, and not just the dumped stuff. Saw 66049 in debranded EWS livery, the whole thing looked bloody awful, lot's of paint missing from cab roofs, fading DB vinyls on cab sides and generally looked not well looked after at all.
Any chance of any of the bones coming back for HS2 construction?

It would be nice if 66049 came home, its the only 1 of the original 250 that i have needed for far to long.
