Evening

I'm presently an outsider job hunting for a career in the rail industry. All I will say is just constantly check the careers page for Cross Country as their vacancies change daily. As for driving, there's no guarantee if or when they will advertise for drivers in Leeds (qualified or trainee). You might be fortunate to get one advertised next week but you might be waiting two years - there's no consistancy with how and when driving roles come available.

If you live in Leeds have you also looked at Northern, LNER and Grand Central as they all operate locally to you and regularly advertise different roles.

If you are looking to become a trainee driver I would warn you now that these roles get hammered with applicants within hours of being advertised and a few TOCs have removed trainee driver vacancies in less than 24 hours because HR will get hundreds of applicants.

I would just keep monitoring the careers board for Cross Country at least every couple of days if I were you and get an application in ASAP if a vacancy does crop up.

Take care.

Routes I believe consist of (some of these I’m more certain of than others)
Edinburgh Waverley to New Street via Peckfield/Westgate/Derby/Tamworth
York - Sheffield via Doncaster
York - Leeds/Sheffield via Castleford (including Crofton depot)
Wakefield Westgate - Doncaster
Leeds - Meadowhall via Barnsley
Via Tinsley/Rotherham/Barrow Hill (Sheffield area)
Chesterfield - Derby via Toton/Long Eaton town.
I’m not 100% on whether drivers sign Derby - New Street (guards certainly do) but if they do there’s a chance they sign via Alrewas & Whitacre. Pretty certain they don’t sign via Leicester however
Plus of course Neville Hill depot
Traction is HST/22X
Hope that helps

Leeds drivers do go to Brum, I think they can go via Lich but not Leicester. Also sign S&K, they used to sign Hambleton curve, not sure if they still do. The rest of the above is spot on.

Swish, thanks. If you’d be so kind as to enlighten me, S&K?
