I'm wondering if I'm the first one to spot the sighting of a playbus since joining this forum :)?

Well, at around 13:55 today whilst on the 13:10ish X13 from the JR Hospital (West Wing) back to Abingdon, I saw an Olympian in playbus livery coming down the ring road heading towards Redbridge Park & Ride.

At first it looked like a Leyland Olympian (F to a K-reg model). Nope, it was a Volvo - I just saw the registration and it was ex-Stagecoach R164 HHK. I take it that it was an ex-London one?

I've just googled the reg to find out where it's based basically and it's an Aylesbury playbus.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know where the Olympian may have been heading? My guess is to some sort of event where children don't have anywhere to play.

Regarding the chassis rot it does also depend on how they are looked after and where they are based. The place where I work has a 1997 Olympian. Whilst it did spend alot of its life trundling around London it was then later converted to open top and spent the last of its years in Glasgow. Having just passed its MOT again there is no signs of rot anywhere (apart from some areas which are surface rust) with most of the main chassis still in Volvo grey. Not bad for 22 years old.
