Leeds to Southampton, returning via Keynsham?

Hi, route as title, travelling out on Thus 31st October direct from Leeds to Southampton. Fri 1st Southampton to Keynsham. Sunday 3rd Keynsham to Leeds.
So, can I do this with a standard return from Leeds to Southampton? I’m guessing not as Keynsham is too indirect? Buying 3 singles is expensive - is there a better way?

Return tickets from Leeds to Southampton routed '+Any Permitted' or 'Not Via London' should be valid for the journey you want to make (stopping at Keynsham on the way back). The route is mapped on routeing guide map combination BM+MN+BW. (Going that way doesn't look 'indirect' to me. ) There may be cheaper ways of doing your journey using advances.

I would check what's happening on Sun 3rd Nov as it's possible you might end up with a bus.

Hi, you can do this with a return from Leeds to Southampton as via Bristol is a permitted route.

Any return is fine, as long as it is a return and not an advance.
