Not every Chester-Leeds service is diagrammed a 195 from Monday but if I remember rightly at least ten per day are. I'm not sure about the Ellesmere Ports, they're worked by Lime Street crew west of Manchester.
I’ll try it on Monday and report back.

The 195 used in the naming at Chester yesterday (104) did work to Ellesmere Port earlier in the day.
Whether anybody was there to notice is another story of course.

I've held off travelling to Chester till at least next week, so as to ride one of the 195s. I've only seen 331s in Leeds to date on my occasional visits to the station there.
The Xmas market starts in Chester from 17th November so might use my £10 Northern special offer then.

That equates to at least five diagrams, since no diagram does more than two Chesters.

Only two diagrams contain an Ellesmere Port, so they'll probably be two of the four (?) to remain non-195, for now.

Both the Ellesmere Port runs will be 195’s.

I'd been going by what Llama had said and was putting two and two together. If he was correct in his figure of at least ten Chesters per day going 195 that means a minimum of six diagrams, since the two diagrams containing an Ellesmere Port only do one Chester each.

Lime Street crew are well versed in 195s, I had no idea what traction they would be booked but in stating that they were worked by Lime Street crew I was inferring that they could well be 195s.

They might need 5 car at times between Leeds - Bradford - Man Victoria but not through to Chester, surely!
I'd suggest the opposite in peak hour need. Plus, if there is spare capacity Chester side there are plenty of car drivers to entice out of their vehicles.

Are any of these Chester-Leeds services that are going to be worked by 195s going to have platform swapped at Chester from next week? I only ask as on a Saturday you've got a set from Piccadilly coming into Platform 5 at Chester at 19:05 closely followed by 19:14 from Leeds which goes out again at 19:20 and looking at platform 5 it can only just about fit either a 4 coach train or 2 seperate trains into it so don't know what's going to happen if any of the Leeds-Chesters are turn out to be 3 coaches.

Looking at this Saturday on RTT, there's a 20:01 Northern service to Manchester that departs platform 6, with no inbound working. I think the 19:05 arrival should actually be at platform 6.

Platform 7 at Chester is currently out of use bring rebuilt so it could be a bit of an issue.

Platforms 5 and 6 are 112m long IIRC so they'd be no good for five 195 vehicles. Platform 1 should just about be sufficient.

I'm going from Manchester to Chester on Monday morning (sometime between 9 and 12), will all the Vic-Chester services be a 195?

P5 and 6 can fit a 150 and a 3 car 175.

Just about, depending if the first unit is correctly 6ft from the block end.

But with some windy Northern drivers 6ft can be 16.......

Yes. But what actually happens on the day is different story depending on availability/reliability.
It's obviously possible, and dare I say it likely, that not every single diagram will actually be a 195 immediately due to unit availability and also capacity constraints on Newton Heath. There might have to be some fudging done.

AIUI, Leeds - Chester is interworked at Leeds with the Man Vic service on the opposite half-hour. If only the Chester service goes over to 195s then the two must be separated and this will cost a unit at a time when Northern is short of stock. The same applies to the York - Blackpool, due to receive 195s in December, as that interworks with the York - Leeds stopper.

195002 on the 07:15 Ellesmere Port to Leeds service (1E52). That was a surprise based on what they’ve been saying in the 195 introduction thread.

Anyone know if the 08.39 service from Leeds is a 195? I'll be getting that from Victoria if so

17:07 to Ellesmere Port was “This service was cancelled between Manchester Victoria and Ellesmere Portdue to the planned train being replaced with a slower train (MS).”

Just to add to the misery, the 17:15 from Piccadilly is only two coaches.

195002 worked the 13.38 Leeds - Chester, then the 16.14 ex Chester, due away from Victoria at 17.19! Just watched it go through Littleborough; there appeared to be some passengers standing, difficult to tell at speed, but it wasn't "heaving". Maybe it was before Rochdale.

EDIT: In reality - no Liverpool driver to take it forward. Traction Knowledge issue due to being a 158.

The 17:07 Leeds to Ellesmere Port ran today but it’s a London Midland Class 150. Something different I guess.
