Darlo 2 v Boston 1

4th win in a row for Darlo. 7 players missing due to international call ups, injury and suspension. BIG cup game next weekend. One more win and we are in the 1st round of the FA Cup. So we will lose................

Glad to see that someone still is not feared of posting non-league information on this thread, after the unofficial gauleiter of football made his comment from on high, decrying such matters. I am still chary about making postings about Hyde United as a result of what he said at the time.

Post what you want Paul, it's not for them to police the content of the thread.

Keep posting. I’d have posted about Ormiston on Saturday, but they didn’t have a game. (And have no game again this Saturday - looks like I’m off to Musselburgh Athletic v Edinburgh United instead)

Bad result for us that. Results seem to suggesr we don’t seem to like playing in the North East!

Yes Rich, Darlo are certainly on a roll now. The Heed gave Gloucester a bit of a rough ride Saturday, should've certainly been more than 1-0, we were guilty of missing a few sitters, which made it slightly more nerve wracking near the end than it should've been.

Even if I contribute very little to this thread, I find it particularly interesting reading the comings and going’s about random and obscure non league teams from across the country. Please keep up the postings.

Watching the England match last night with the obvious racist abuse directed at the black English players, I do have to comment on how well the English players and team handled the situation. I do have to say that how the Bulgarian coach can say he did not hear any racist chanting is beyond me and smacks of having his head in the sand. It did seem that there was an element of the crowd that were there with the specific intent to cause trouble but luckily they did not win...

Not only that, he made a bizarre claim that the partial stadium closure last night wasn't due to previous racist behaviour from fans. Bulgaria were charged in July on two different accounts of racist behaviour, it's amazing he can somehow try to claim they weren't when it's all there in black and white on the UEFA website.

For all of the uproar last night we do need to sort things out here as well because of some frankly shocking instances of racism this season and in recent years. The general consensus seems to always be that these other European countries are poorly educated on the topic but we have some way to go as well.

I raised a question about what people wanted to see - it was there for a discussion, not a proclamation. If the majority on the thread find interest in Darlo's last victory and a repost of the entire table for the Northern Premier League (Premier Division) then so be it. I don't and that's why I asked the question, which has been answered.

I was pleased to see that the BBC in England supported nonleagueday on Saturday, the lower leagues need as much publicity as possible, on the other hand I was disgusted that BBC Scotland Sport chose to completely ignore the fact that there was domestic football scheduled for Saturday and basically took a day off.

Not entirely! BBC Alba showed Stenhousemuir v Waterford in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup on Friday night.

it’s not what the majority want. If only a few are interested and it’s relevant to the thread then no reason for it not to appear. If it doesn’t interest you scroll on past

I doubt we will be near the top of the league this season but we look a bit better than last year. Winning on Saturday would really help the finances. So we will lose!

Into the first round proper if the fa cup! Fantastic. This means nothing to premier league fans but if you support a little club you will understand!

First time we have reached this stage of the fa cup since the fa screwed us.

I post occasionally about Altrincham, although I'm slightly out of the loop now that I live in Renfrewshire.

Happy to see Dover Athletic win 2-1 at Weymouth in the FA Cup with two late goals.

Hoping to be last out of the velvet bag Monday to get a bye and the prize money.

BetVictor Northern Premier League

Hyde United 1 ... Morpeth Town 1

Chances at both ends went begging yet the last few minutes enlivened the game, with Morpeth taking the lead in the 89th minute and Hyde equalising in the 90th minute. Hyde now in mid-table in 12th position.

just a bit more on Darlo ( remember to tune into the LIVE FA Cup draw at 19:00 on BBC2 this evening)
  • 5 wins in a row in all competitions
  • 1st FA Cup first round appearance for 9 years ( and it was the loss at Hinkley at this stage of the cup then that started the journey to where we are today)
  • First time we have won 3 FA cup ties since the 89/90 season
  • Two goals scored by a kid on loan from the Boro.
  • The other goal was scored by our Jamacian international
  • Our on loan keeper borrowed a chav cap from a fan before he saved a penalty because he couldn't see the ball.
A great result which has already netted the club a fantastic £37k in prize money.

A lot of long journeys for away teams and fans in that draw... there's only really Blackpool v Morecambe; and Stevenage v Peterborough that could be called derbies.

The magic of the FA Cup,
Oldham at home for the Heed, Darlo away to Walsall, nice little pre match butchers at Bescot Rich.

Agree there's some good ties in that draw. Good draw for the Whites that Cletus, they're struggling big time. Certainly a winnable game. When the draw was being made, we were all hoping to avoid, anyone ridiculously far away and Dover fitted that criteria. Been to the Crabble 3 times with the Heed, I wasn't overly keen on a 4th at this present time;) How's Riggy doing for you?

The magic of the FA Cup, Oldham at home for the Heed.

I think our regular Oldham Athletic follower has been missing from this website for a while now, so I have come off the bench, as a substitute, to respond.
I think this may have been the first time that Gateshead have met Oldham Athletic in the F A Cup. The last match between the teams at Gateshead was a Division 4 league match on Saturday 23rd April 1960, that Gateshead won 2-0.

There must have been a good Division 3 (North) league match at Gateshead on Saturday, 21st February 1948 between the teams that ended Gateshead 3 Oldham Athletic 5.

That last league game was just before we were unceremoniously kicked out the league.
I would imagine it will be the first time we've met in the FA Cup, up until the last few years, the FA Cup has been like an evil mistress, always led us to the bedroom door and then changed her mind about letting us have a good old frollic:rolleyes::D
I'm just happy to have a League club, I have no ideas above my station, I know one thing we'll give you a game.
