as above guys,

I’m going to London tomorrow to see the Gerry’s 313 tour, I’m going to be meeting a friend after at London Bridge for a beer or two, but may want to go to Moorgate for a browse also.. is it just best to get a travel card? (Also I am not sure how the off peak hours work, can anyone advise).

Just use an oyster, oyster guarantees the cheapest fares on TfL services.
If you have a railcard, ask the staff near ticket machine to link up your oyster with your railcard.
Day cap is cheaper than a paper day travel card within London zone 1-6.

Peak fare applies 0630-0930 and 1600-1900, upon first touch in time
However, off-peak day cap applies if the first touch in to a railway system of the day is after 0929.

I meant to say I’m traveling from harlington also. I’m not aware how the oyster works, is this a subscription thing where I pay monthly for a year to save?

Coming from Harlington, it's best to get an outboundary travelcard (Harlington to Zones 1-6)
You should be able to get this from the TVMs at Harlington.

Yes, super off-peak outboundarytravelcard would be the best as the difference between the travelcard and super off-peak return ticket (Harlington - London Thameslink) is less than Oyster Zone 1-2 day cap.

Off-peak day travelcards (£31.70) from Harlington are not valid for arrival at St Pancras International until 1000 (in practice 1005 using the 0917 train from Harlington). Return on any train.

A weekday super-off peak day travelcard (£26.20) from Harlington is valid on the 0931 train from Harlington but not to leave the relevant London stations between 1629 and 1902.

To avoid such expensive and the rush then I could leave around 10, that way I will make it for after lunchtime when it gets to Moorgate, I don’t have to see it first of at kings cross.

Don't worry, the earliest train you can catch as mentioned, is 0931 one.
