Has anybody here ever received 'RP' on the back of their ticket when showing it at a revenue block?

Usually, on the rare occasions I've encountered a revenue block, my ticket never receives any markings on it from whoever checks it, but today there was a rare check at a small station I boarded a train and they marked my ticket on the back with RP which I know will mean 'Revenue Protection'. I'm not worried about this, just interested to know if anyone else here has ever had this happen?

Here's my ticket that got the 'RP' endorsement:

Perhaps it's an endorsement to travel via any desired route, at any time, regardless of the restrictions applicable to the ticket ;)

In all seriousness no, I have never seen this used.

Even when an actual endorsement to travel by an alternative service/route has been made, I have never had it written in the endorsements box in the back of the ticket (it's usually verbal).

Not exactly this but I have seen similar when they are doing a block at a bigger station further down the line.

apparently it is to catch people short faring and collecting the ticket from a TVM further up the line.

If you have a ticket without this on from said station you will be asked why. If you produce another ticket that shows you have a complete valid journey they are happy again.

I have my doubts about that, as they could look at the location and time the ticket was printed.

The other week I bought an off peak ticket at peak time to use from Watford to travel north, the seller put an A in the corner of the ticket, would this mean advised or similar?

Yes, I think so. Had similar recently when buying from a ticket office during an SWR strike day.

I've had RA written on tickets a few times in similar circumstances , I took that to mean restrictions advised.
