I wish people could see what goes on inside TPE on a daily basis, rather than being taken in by the spin and PR (which is one thing TPE are very good at). Yes there are well known infrastructure issues but TPE itself is an utter shambles, far too many issues to list here but the December timetable change is going to be "interesting" to say the least.

Do share? I for one except Dec TT to bring additional reliability to the train plan.

The North (West, mostly)'s unworkable timetable and unit/staff diagramming is entirely down to the incompetence of Northern's and TPE's management, just as LNR's woes are caused by the timetabling and diagramming incompetence of that TOC's management. I wouldn't even blame the planning staff themselves - they were almost certainly told to get on and do it whether they liked it or not.

Of course, TPE (in Northern's case) and VTWC (in LNR's case) are adversely affected by this incompetence even though it's not of their doing.
Fixed that for you! :E

I have been saying for a while that they are a shambles, and have been using Northern as a deflector shield when in truth - they have caused a lot of the issues.

I'm glad the mask is slipping.

Well you would hope so when there are trains with 10 minutes pathing time between Manchester Airport and Piccadilly every hour

The whole timetable really needs reworking from the top, as the fixes to try and improve performance have come at the expense of efficiency and trains are still consistently late for no other reason than "congestion". It really is a mess.

So many issues, but training on (or lack of/delays to) new traction, and routes I would say is currently the biggest risk.
