Did the same run on Monday to Thursday all week and most of last week too. Even on Saturday.

Nice to see the training (?), is going along.

Can't be too long before we have one in revenue service now, which I'm sure a lot of people will be pleased about, not just on this forum!

Lots of people in the area which LNWR operate will also be pleased as their 350/4s will be arriving, hopefully some 319s can be taken out of service now although looking at wikipedia the 350/4s are helping the cascade of class 323s to northern, maybe some more 323s will be coming to northern soon.

A win-win all round then ;)

Class 350/4s aren’t coming to replace 323s - they’re for capacity increase on existing lines only and to help with the withdrawal of Class 319s.

I doubt 319s will go, there are too many of them now for /4s to replace them all. They'll be used for strengthening and 319s will stay until the new stock arrives.

They’re also to be used to release the final 170 workings from Chase Line services. WMR have promised users on the Hereford Line that every service will be one carriage longer upon the December timetable change, but this is contingent on sufficient 350/4s arriving to allow it to happen.

Suggestions earlier on here that the 397s are to be rolled out on 5th November. Fully in service from the December chsnge.

Pretty rapid fleet rollout if so, which sounds promising: I've been wondering whether there'll be many class 397s in use at the end of November, or whether to stick to changing onto the Virgin service at Preston on my way up to Edinburgh from Manchester at that time.

I did think that it sounded unlikely to be able to replace all of the 319s and provide a capacity boost elsewhere with 10 4-car units.

So 05 Nov is a Tuesday. Maybe as per the other two Novas this will change to the Saturday before or after? The Nova 3 launch I heard about on here but Nova 1 I had to depend on a tip-off from a pal in the industry (not TPE though)

Just a reminder this is a Traction & Rolling stock discussion thread for TPE Class 397 ('Nova 2') construction and updates.

I have split some posts here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...nt-capacity-on-northern-wcml-services.194318/

Also people have previously asked why TPE ordered these trains instead of more 80x trains, but due to the length of this thread, the question and answers tends to get buried so I have split some posts here too: https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...a-2-instead-of-more-80x-series-trains.194316/

In order to keep this thread reasonably concise and on topic, please create a new thread (if there isn't one already) or use an existing one (if there is) if you wish to discuss anything other than Class 397 construction and updates specifically; other topics (even if related) should go in a separate thread.

Once they enter passenger service, a separate diagrams thread will need to be created.

After speaking to TPE customer service, appears that they're aiming for Nova 2 rollout by 14th Dec, as seat reservations are unavailable until that date, and was told this is related to Nova 2. The conductor on the 350 I was on yesterday made an announcement to the same effect, stating it's because they're testing the new systems for electronic seat reservations.
