I’m soon to be joining the railway industry as a driver. Having come from the police (surprise surprise) I enjoyed many discounts through blue light card, emergency service days, mobile phone discounts and the odd free kebab etc Question is... whilst I know we get free and discounted train travel, are there any other discounts people know of which are aimed at railway industry workers? TIA.

My employer has access to Reward Gateway which has a fantastic range of reloadable cards and instant vouchers. The value of these schemes should not be underestimated as they can boost income significantly.

West Midlands Trains may use a similar employee rewards scheme - perhaps Edenred, Xexec, SVM Europe etc.

Also check out REPTA - although it's aimed at railway workers I only found out about it through TfL! https://www.repta.co.uk/

The new employee rewards platform is coming soon, the old one was London Midland so now the franchise has changed so too has the benefits platform. Under LM, they offered deals with EE on mobile phone contracts, discounts on gym memberships, free flu jabs and various other things in that same vein. When Grand Central first opened properly there were different discounts available every week, think the chippy is probably the only place that still does it. Anyway, you get the picture.
